OVERVIEW I buy and sell a lot of classic VW’s. It is kind of a fetish for me, and I am constantly on the lookout for my cool VW to cruise and enjoy for a little while before letting it find its new home. I purchased this bus back in January, and having had the opportunity to take it on a few long trips, and a bunch of Sunday beach outings, I am ready to let it go to the next owner. Please take a moment to read the listing, look over the 100 extra-large detailed photos, and then call me to make it yours before someone else does it first! THIS VEHICLE HAS A CLEAN AND CLEAR FLORIDA TITLE IN OUR POSSESSION, AND IS READY FOR SALE AND EXPORT WORLDWIDE. FOR VEHICLE FINANCING, APPLY ONLINE AT: WWW.JJBEST.COM WWW.LIGHTSTREAM.COM DESCRIPTION I purchased this VW BUS back in January from the previous owner, who spent tens of thousands of dollars just a few years ago affecting the complete and total restoration and build you see in the 100 EXTRA-LARGE photos below. First off, this is a REAL GERMAN BUS. In a world where so many of the cheap Brazilian knock-offs get shipped up here to trick unsuspecting buyers, it is certainly nice to find a GENUINE GERMAN BUS! Decoding the two tags on the bus reveals the following: 1967 Type2 T1 MODEL 221 MICROBUS 8 PASSENGER 11 WINDOW KOMBI It was produced on July 1st, 1967, and was equipped with the NORTH AMERICAN EXPORT PACKAGE. It left the factory with BEIGE GREY upper paint, and a TITAN RED lower. It had the MESH GRAY interior at birth, and the chassis number of 227144317 is clearly visible on each tag and corresponds to the Florida title on this Bus. In addition, the Bus has been fit with a completely refurbished and reupholstered WESTFALIA CAMPMOBILE bench seat/folding bed which has the tag number 8*07866 on it. This was a clean, well-maintained, and monthly driven Bus for many years before the previous owner purchased it in 2010, and he continued to drive and enjoy it at events throughout the Southeastern U.S. before taking the plunge and beginning a total and complete overhaul of it to create his Dream Machine. The bus was stripped to the last nut and washer, and the project was started in late 2013. The body, interior pans, and things are in AMAZING condition, and I have included photos to show the floors, inner panels, chassis, and everything else to let you see that this is one exceptionally straight, clean, and rust-free bus. Not much was needed to prepare the body for paint, and since it was so nice, so extra time was spent in blasting all the old paint off to get it down to bare metal before it was prepped for a beautiful PPG 1975 VW Pastel White finish inside and out. The finish is so pretty and clean, the decision was made NOT to add a 2nd color to it, which lets you really see how straight, clean, and solid the panels are throughout the bus. It is still glossy, slick, and wet looking today, and has been regularly cleaned and detailed for shows and events since completion. In staying with the monochromatic theme, the window frames for the pop-outs were blasted smooth, and sprayed in the same color, while the bumpers were treated to PPG Blizzard White from the same 1975 VW color chart. The overall look is super clean, and gives it a more contemporary and sporty vibe from front to back, especially with the lowered stance and 15” FUCHS it rolls on! Chrome graces the front VW emblem, headlight trim rings, original door handles, and rear hatch and engine cover pulls. Other bright or polished items on the bus are the elephant ear mirrors, OG VW SWF tail lamp surrounds, and TRZ HELLA backup lamp surrounds. All of the glass is in very good condition, with no chips, cracks, or damage, and the pop-outs work like they should. All of the rubber seals, weather stripping, and trim were installed brand new on the truck during the restoration, and still look that way today thanks to indoor storage and care. No dryness, brittle spots, or damage, and everything seals up like it is supposed to. Front side windows slide open and close with ease, and the vent windows work perfectly too. This bus has stance for days! It sits PERFECTLY, thanks to a narrowed adjustable beam front end with disc brakes on all four corners, and the ride and handling on the bus is sporty and quick. It takes bumps and normal highway driving just fine, with plenty of clearance before anything touches Mother Earth, and the performance shocks installed allow for tight and direct handling at all speeds, with none of the wallow and tipsy feeling other buses have. The bus has completed not one, but TWO of the VW’s over the Skyway trips here in Florida, and the second time was 4.5 hour round-trip of about 300 miles that went perfectly! It has about 3,000 miles on it since completion, and is proven and reliable for both in-town, and long haul trips. The correctly numbered HO595631 1500sp 47hp block was completely removed, stripped to the bare block, and rebuilt into the current 1671cc powertrain with DUAL WEBER 40mm IDF CARBS, ALUMINUM INTAKES, SIDEWINDER STAINLESS STEEL HEADERS, PERTRONIX FLAMETHROWER, and more! It is a fantastic performing engine, and is just as happy puttering about in town as it is eating up Interstate miles at 65mph! It is clean, neat, and has been serviced and already, so all you need to do is get in and drive it! The Sidewinder exhaust system sounds amazing, and gives it a nice note without being obnoxious under acceleration or cruising. The freeway flyer style transmission from Rancho is perfectly suited to the motor, and allows for nice red light getaways and low rpm cruising at 65-70mph too. Shifts are smooth, clean, and sure, and the bus does NOT pop out of any gears. It has a solid feel going into reverse, and the clutch pedal feel and take up is just as it should be. The real Porsche FUCHS are in exceptionally good condition, and are wrapped in FALKEN ZE950 rubber sized 195/50R15 up front, and 205/60R15 in the rear. Tires are clean and undamaged, and have less than 4,000 miles on them since installation. The underside of the bus was blasted and then treated to a coat of light rust prohibitive to make sure the Florida salt air didn’t start anything with it! While not ready for car show display mirrors, you can see in from the 14 photos of the bus on a lift that it is clean, neat, solid, and everything is readily accessible for future maintenance and upkeep. The chassis has been lubricated, and everything checked and gone over by us to make sure that all you have to do is gas it up and go when it arrives at your door. Chassis photos were done after I was done driving it, and prior to the bus being serviced and detailed, so look at the additional shots provided of the undercarriage with the bus off the lift too. With the inside of the bus stripped and bare, an interior concept was born that would allow plenty of floor room for carrying goods, but still have room for a few friends and the ever-important folding bed. An original Westfalia Campmobile 70 bench/folding bed unit was purchased and completely stripped, cleaned, and reassembled before being treated to all-new charcoal beige upholstery in a diamond-weave pattern. The bed is in exceptional condition, seats 3 adults in bench form, has seat belts, and quickly and easily folds open into a bed. The prior owner used a bunch of large pillows in the back carpeted section, but you can use whatever you’d like! In addition, the under seat storage cubby offers quick and easy access to hide valuables, car show chairs, detail stuff, and other goodies when on the road. Front wall of the seat base holds to Pioneer 6x9 speakers which sound amazing! The entire interior of the bus was treated to heat and sound proofing insulation before anything was installed, and it works great at keeping the cabin quiet. I didn’t like the rubber mats that were in the truck when I got it, so we sent it up the street to our upholstery specialist for a custom cut and installed carpet for the front, middle, and rear floor segments on the bus. It is automotive grade carpeting in a closed loop tight knap style, and has been professionally banded, trimmed, and installed. It looks new because it is new. Photos of the entire floor segments after the insulation was press-fit to conform to the panels are supplied in the 100 photos accompanying this ad, and you can see that it is clean, straight and solid throughout. Front split bench is covered in the same diamond-weave upholstery as the rear bench/bed, and looks like new with no damage, stains, or issues. Each side flips forward separately to access the spotless spare tire well (spare not included), and under seat storage area. It shows like new, and you can clearly see just how solid and clean it is from the multiple photos I have provided. Overhead, the original heater control box is intact, clean, and has functional control knobs. When the sidewinder exhaust was installed, the heater channels were bypassed, so although most of the duct work is still intact as you can see from the chassis photos, it would take a little work and an exhaust system change to make them flow heat again. A chrome rearview lets you monitor shenanigans behind you, and front headliner is clean and neat in a custom made upholstery that compliments the interior trim. Rear headliner is comprised of color matched panels custom installed with a teakwood hand-cut trim rail and bright hardware. It looks modern and retro at the same time, and gets SO MANY compliments everywhere I have taken the bus. The door panels, rear inside panels, side door panels, and rear hatch panel are all treated to the same matching upholstery, with a contrasting trim material around the side window segments and rear pillars to break things up a little. It all looks AMAZING, and there is even a rear overhead package self to store items too! As a bonus, the side door lower panels carry the outline of Kokopelli, the trickster God of Spirit and Music. It is a great looking interior from front to back, because it looks modern and a bit throwback all at the same time, but consists of all modern fabrics for ease of cleaning and long-term durability. The dash is clean, neat, straight, and stock, with a new functional fuel gauge, non-working speedometer, modern PIONEER DEHX4600BT stereo head unit with iPod/CD/USB/and Blue-Tooth functionality, and the correct OG passenger grab strap. The chrome ashtray looks like new, and I know that the bus has not been smoked in since the restoration. Original steering column is topped with a vintage turn signal control box that works like it should, and a custom billet 3-spoke wheel with faux wood trim that looks as new as the faux wood metal under-dash storage tray that matches it. Horn works like it should. There is even a 12V outlet to charge your phone or whatever else you might have. Stock shifter arm is smooth an easy to use, and the E-Brake lever is intact, but not hooked up since the 4-wheel disc brake conversion was completed. Stock-style floor pedals are fully functional, and look great too! Headlights work, as do the dash lights for the fuel gauge and speedometer. Radio lights up as it should, and has its own master power switch and rear mounted wireless remote for use when camping. Wiper control works, and the nubs up front are working but have no arms or blades because the prior owner treated the windshield panels to RAIN-X, and he, nor I, never needed them in the rain. The stuff literally sheets off it when driving. All of the hardware used to mount the doors and things was all-new when the resto was completed, and still shows wonderfully. Everything opens and closes like it should, and panel fit is about as good as gets in VW Bus with all new seals and weatherstrip! Ignition works like it should, and the door key looks things up from front to back for safety. Outside, the headlights, parking lights, tail lights, brake lights, and turn signals all work like they should. This is a super clean, super straight, and ready to drive bus that combines vintage charm and modern style perfectly! It is serviced, detailed, and ready to drive RIGHT NOW, and I have personally put over 500 miles on it without any issues or problems. It is completely capable of being highway driven, and is a blast to cruise in town as well! IT HAS A CLEAN AND CLEAR TITLE AS A 1967 VOLKSWAGEN. MILEAGE IS LISTED AS EXEMPT ON THE TITLE.
