1956 VW Bug Oval Ragtop
Description
It is time to sell my 1956 Oval. I have over 30K invested.
This is a chance to own an all original metal Oval ragtop. This is a very presentable, fast car to drive and is lots of fun. Air conditioning makes it that much more drive-able. Car is in Arizona.
This is not a show car, but a very nice car. This is a car I built to be driven and to be very fun. This is a car that I would get in at any moment and drive to the VW classic (in California) or Las vegas (and have done several times). I've owned for over 10 years.
The car was restored by previous owner (exterior and interior). It is painted horizon blue (the original color), and still has lots of paint life left. There are rock chips in the paint, and some small imperfections. Still receives lots of attention.
I replaced the ragtop and headliner several years ago. The headliner needs to be re-glued where ragtop meets it in the back. Door panels have been replaced.
Carpet is showing its age.
Front seats in good condition, very comfortable and cushy.
Back seat has a couple of small tears in front face.
Has front and rear seatbelts.
New windshield. All window rubber recently replaced. All windows are tinted, very slight blue tint, almost clear but helps a lot with keeping the heat out.
Reproduction pop out windows.
Third brake light installed, but is removable. LED snowflake taillights. H4 headlamps
Just had the instrument gauges restored. The trip speedometer is custom, and reads to 120MPH and is accurate for the tire size. 165-60-15. The tachometer, oil pressure and oil temperature have been redone to match the speedometer. Work done by North Hollywood Speedometer
Has a 2 6x9s in box behind back seat, with amplifier under passenger seat. no holes cut for the stereo. Was setup to run off of Ipod or phone.
Air conditioning from Gilmore Enterprises
Cosmic reproduction wheels. New rear tires (195-65-15), front tires (165-60-15) plenty of tread. Also have all 5 original date stamped rims for this car. NOS Happich grab handle just installed. Koch restored steering wheel
Cruiser pedal installed.
Also included is an original spare tire tool kit (a few of the tools have been replaced).
Bumper stiffeners front and rear.
Demas license plate frame not included.
I have gone through every mechanical aspect of this car.
Front beam replaced, with lowering adjusters. AC industries front disc brake kit. Rear drums are larger type 3. pedal cluster rebuilt and has heim joint upgrade.

Transmission is 4.12 R&P also built by Steve to handle this motor. Gene Berg T-shifter
Transmission about 10k miles on it.
The car needs to have the rear bumper brackets lengthened to clear the deck lid. Currently the rear bumper is tilted (so that the deck lid can open). Have the parts, just needs install.
Also the spring mount needs to be welded back onto the decklid. I have the originalpart, just needs to be installed.
