1979 seven passenger transporter. Only 99,063 original miles since new. Mint condition 100% rust free low mile survivor. This van is in mint condition.. All original, low mile survivor with the exception of one high quality repaint in its factory colors, new door panels and driver front seat bottom upholstery and cushion. This bus spent most of its life in dry eastern Oregon so there is absolutely NO RUST.... The previous owner owned a VW repair shop in Eastern Oregon. During his ownership he meticulously maintained and updated the VW bus including but not limited to completely rebuilding the factory fuel injected 2 liter hydraulic valve motor. The interior is in MINT condition and is all original with the exception of new front door panels. The headliner is perfect. The seat upholstery is in MINT condition and is 100% original with the exception of the driver side seat bottom and cushion. The seats have no rips or damage. The bus rides awesome with the upgraded KYB gas shocks. Very rare to find a low mile rust free survivor in this kind of condition. This van had been garaged most of its life. Many man hours have gone into the preservation of this bus with the goal to keep it as original as possible....
ENGINE- Rebuilt factory fuel injected 2 liter hydraulic valve motor with approx. 20k miles on it. At the time of the rebuild the clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, fuel and vac lines as well as many other misc parts were replaced. New battery. Updated electronic ignition. Fresh complete tune up including but not limited to plug wires, rotor, cap, points, condenser, oil change, filter service, new foam engine seal. The motor is finely tuned and runs perfect. The engine bay is very clean and tidy (see pictures). There is no comparison to a well running fuel injected 2 liter motor in tip top shape. The transmission shifts perfectly, all bushings and linkage have been recently greased. The motor runs strong and at high way speeds easily... The van runs and drives like new.
PAINT & BODY- This bus spent most of its life in sunny and dry eastern Oregon. There is no rust anywhere. Even the original battery tray is perfect.. This bus has been garaged for a most of its life. This van has had one very high quality repaint in its factory colors. I recently had the paint polished at a professional detail shop. They spent many hours polishing the paint to a beautiful finish. This bus has had no accident history. The body is arrow strait with no dents or scratches. Perfect door and body gaps. The under carriage, frame, jack points, nose, floors, dog legs, inner rockers, all doors, and gutters are completely rust free, (the entire bus is 100% rust free). THERE IS NO RUST on the body... Both front and rear bumpers were powder coated factory white color. All four wheels were completely sand blasted and powder coated as well. The factory undercoating is in excellent condition.
INTERIOR- The interior is in excellent original mint condition. Perfect dash with no cracks. Updated retractable front seat belt upgrade. I had the driver side seat bottom and cushion replaced as it had a small tear in it. I had some new old stock correct color vinyl basket weave material. I had the old seat bottom vinyl removed and a new piece put in by my upholstery shop. He had to hand stitch the pattern to match the driver side. It turned out perfect. The front, middle, and rear seats are MINT. All of the factory middle and rear seat belts and head rests are in place as well as the rare and always missing middle seat kick panel. All interior door and kick panels are 100% original to the bus with the exception of new front door panels I just installed. I removed all of the stock hardware (air vent arm rest and installed it on the new door panels as this was how the van came from the factory and I wanted to keep it as original as possible). New Kenwood CD player that is satellite compatible. Nice 6x9 speakers in the rear, The original head liner is perfect. All of the rubber mats are like new.
SUSPENSION & BRAKES- KYB gas shocks front and rear. Newer brakes as well as brake lines. The wheel bearings were repacked at the time brakes were done. The bus handles and drives excellent. All front end bushings, and ball joints are in good condition. The steering is tight, brakes are excellent.
OTHER- Brand new Toyo white wall tires front and rear. New CD player with 6x9 speakers. Sliding middle windows and solid rear windows with out the always leaking vent windows. The sliding windows are excellent and much needed ventilation on a hot day. The van comes with its original books and manuals.
This is a mint original low mile survivor....Once in a great while you find van that has been well cared for its entire life, this is one of them... Its very hard to find one in this kind of original condition. Many hours went into the preservation of this bus. The goal was to keep it original as possible. No detail was over looked, absolutely no corners were cut. One of the best in the country... Clear Washington title in hand. This would be the perfect centerpiece for any VW collection, show car, or excellent daily driver.
. I listed the van for auction. I will let the auction run its course to be fair to all bidders. If thevan does notsell or reach the reserve, I will be happy to negotiate a buy it now price after the auction has ended.
