Description

VW cabriolet body on 1988 Pontiac Fiero chassis with 2001 Buick EFI L67 engine, Holset HX40 turbo. 10psi boost, room for lots more with bigger injectors. Runs and drives awesome. Registered. Clean title in hand. 285mm wide tires in the rear. Turn key, rediculuos car.
I started building this car in early 2015. It took me about a year to build and about 400 hours. I started with a 1988 Fiero (the last and best year because of the redesigned suspension) and a VW Cabriolet. I cut the body off of the Fiero, and cut the chassis out of the Rabbit. I trimmed the two to fit and welded the whole thing together. I then installed a 2001 Buick 3.8L supercharged V6. However, I removed the supercharger and installed a Holset HX40 turbocharger. As you can see, the turbo sits up above the decklid. This car is fast. It runs and drives and makes 10 pounds of boost. The long block is capable of much more, probably at least 25psi and 425hp. However, you will need bigger injectors and probably a bigger fuel pump to get there. It has an intercooler that mounts on the roll bar above the driver's head. It is loud but still drivable on the street. It sounds really good, almost like a V8. It has 285mm tires on the back, 235's in the front. It comes with another pair of rims with 225's, if you don't want the super wide rear tires. The rim diameter is 18inches. Both of the rear tires rub as does the passenger front, so the fender flares need to be redone. I have trailer fender blanks that I was going to used. They are included in the sale if you want them. The AC is hooked up, but I have not pulled a vacuum or tried to charge it. The interior is fairly clean but is a mismatch of Fiero and Cabriolet, so it could use some attention. Driver's seat is brand new. Passenger seat is more of a jump seat, but is in good shape. Four wheel disc brakes with vented and cross drilled rotors. GM 4T65E-HD four speed automatic transmission.
