Description

This rare 1967 Ragtop Beetle was bought new by the restaurant owners in Fryburg Ohio, who used it mostly for advertisement until the restaurant closed in the 1980s. It then sat parked in the garage until their son purchased it a couple years ago. Instead of going through it after all those years, he just put a new battery and gas in it and took off. Unfortunately the engine backfired one too many times and the carburetor caught fire. The fire put itself out, but not before burningthe wiring and scorching some of the paint. (This is the story he told me). Being he was no mechanic, he turned it into the insurance company and they paid him full value of the car as they considered it totaled. Instead of giving them the car, his brother bought the car off the insurance company for $3900and got a salvage title for it (title verifies he paid $3900), fixed the burned wires, tuned it up, repainted the engine cover and behind the rear bumper, and it runs like new again. So it now has a clear Ohio salvage title, signed and notarized as required by Ohio law. It's identical to all other Ohio titles. I realize I didn't need to tell this whole story, but thought it would be best the new owner knows the history of the car. Now I'll tell you about the rest of the car. As the pictures show, it's a very nice looking Bug. The car is so dependable now I wouldn't be afraid to drive it across country right now.It runs great, shifts great, and drives down the road like a new car. The is no shimmy or pulling, and the engine has all kinds of power for highway traffic. Brakes work perfectly. All the lights and turn signals work great. Gauges all work. Even has a decent heater. The radio is in the trunk, so I don't know if it works or why he took it out. No holes drilled in the dash anywhere. The only rust is very minor on the bottom corners of the doors and a little on the running boards. The underside is solid, and the body is dent free. All glass is still like new. The interior is almost perfect except for a couple ripped seams on the drivers seat. It is all original. The tires are old but have good tread. The engine is clean and has new plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, points, etc. The chrome bumpers are in fantastic shape. What makes this car special is the rare crank, folding vinyl rag top. I believe this was the last year for the vinyl before they went to a metal sliding top. The add on luggage rack I was told was installed in 1967. It is easily removed, just being clamped on. No holes were drilled to install it. Forgot to mention this is the original 1600cc engine. The only thing it may need is a gasket as I see a little oil on my garage floor after driving it. I've tried to describe this car as honestly as possible. It's not perfect, but is sure looks good and is very dependable. I don't have a ridiculous reserve on it either. I do not use paypal, so payment will have to be by cash if you're picking it up within 3 days, or a certified bank check, or better still, a bank to bank wire transfer. I can have it shipped anywhere in the states. If you are overseas, I can help with shipping there also. I'll expect payment in full within 5 days of end of auction. I can store it securely for up to 30 days. But I'll still expect full payment within 5 days. Please email with any questions or ask for my phone number. Make me an offer, I just might take it. Even muscle car trades. Or classic motorcycles. Won't hurt to ask, right. I'm a collector and trader. One more thing, it has the original jack and spare, mounted in the original location. Thank you and God Bless you all.
