Description

1991 Volvo Bertone Coupe in good overall condition. The Bertone 780 was a limited production luxury car designed and built by the Bertone Coach works in Torino, Italy for Volvo. Total production of 780 Bertones was 8518 vehicles produced between 1986 and 1991. 1991 was the last year of production and the vehicle was renamed the Coupe. Only 519 Coupes were produced, making them a very rare vehicle. This Bertone Coupe is powered by a electronic fuel injected 2.83 liter 4 cylinder turbocharged engine coupled with a 4 speed overdrive automatic transmission. Beautiful blue metallic exterior with black leather interior. Power: front seats, windows, locks, mirrors and glass moon roof. Also equipped with air conditioning, cruise control, AM/FM cassette player, anti-lock brakes, driver's side air bag and an Eaton G-80 locker differential. This Bertone runs and drives great. The engine has the typical noisy lower end that so many B230FT engines developed prior to the design change in 1993. I bought this Coupe with 115,780 miles on it and have driven it an Additional 16,000 miles over the last 10 years. I rarely drive it which is why I am selling it. The chassis is in great condition. There are no rust problems that are visible anywhere on this car. All the glass is good, the sunroof is water tight. This car is very smooth and quiet at any speed. The body damage to the quarter panel is obvious. There are also minor dings in the trunk lid, one small ding in the roof and the corners of the hood have a ding/bend where the hinges bent the hood. This Bertone is a solid, complete, intact car that is a great starting point for a restoration of one of Volvo's finest vehicles. The tires need to be replaced before driving this car again. I quit driving it when I noticed that one of the tires was almost worn through on the edge. The leather on all the seats is dry. The two front seats are splitting at the seams. The back seat is still intact, other than where the cover meets the rear speaker deck. It has shrunk there from the sun coming through the rear window. The wood is in nice shape, however, it all needs to be re-varnished. This Bertone was first sold in Washington and remained there until 2008 when it was in a minor accident that caused the damage to the rear quarter panel. I bought the Bertone from Geico Insurance Company through the insurance auction pool. It comes with a Salvage Pool Bill of Sale. This document is recognized as title to this vehicle by Oregon and Washington. If a buyer from a state, province or country that does not recognize this document as title to the vehicle wishes to purchase this vehicle, the Bertone can be titled in Oregon by my dealership for an additional fee to be paid by the buyer. Contact me before bidding to discuss the title situation. If a buyer wishes to have this Bertone shipped to them, I will help facilitate that request. Several vehicles have been picked up from my dealership by transport companies moving vehicles people have bought from me. This Bertone can remain at my dealership for 30 days after the close of the auction at no charge to the buyer to give him/her time to pick up the vehicle, or, have it picked up by a transporter authorized to do so by the buyer.
