Description
1989 VOLVO 240 4DR SEDAN FOR SALE RWD AUTOMATIC RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT
For sale is a 1989 Volvo 240 Sedan 4DR RWD. I purchased this car back in March to commute with while I shopped for a newer car. I commuted 120 miles a day with no issues. I found a vehicle in late April and no longer need this one. The previous owner took great car of it and I have meticulously maintained it as well. The vehicle passed California Smog without any issues, is currently registered in the State of California and I have a clean title in hand. Car is completely legal to drive home. The vehicle runs and drives great. Handles great as well. This is one of the best Volvos ever made in terms of safety, reliability and ease of repairs. Great starter car to learn automotive repairs on and a great addition to any Volvo enthusiasts fleet. Solid foundation for restoration. The car has no leaks or noises. It is primered gray which was done by the previous owners grandson. Overall the body is straight but the drivers side fender could use a good sanding (see image). The exterior is straight and solid. The interior is in great condition for it's age however there are 2 cracks in the dashboard (see image). The headliner is in great shape and there is a hand crank sun roof. The seats are in excellent condition as well with no tears. The vehicle also has a CD player. The vehicle has power windows and the old style power door locks when you un/lock the drivers side, all the doors un/lock. The AC works but needs to be recharged and the heater works fine. The gauge cluster is not working at this time. The odometer had stopped working during the time the previous owner had it. He estimated it had roughly 248k on it and I have put roughly 1k on it but listed the mileage generously. I had removed the gauge cluster to install a new gear to repair the odometer and when I removed the cluster the filament style fuse on the back of the panel directly above the speedometer assembly was bent and therefore power is no longer being transferred among the cluster. The cluster worked fine before as can be seen in the video. Unfortunately there are no older Volvos in the junkyard nearby but if one does become available I will replace the fuse. The following is a link to the video that shows the gauge cluster while starting the vehicle and driving it. You can see the cluster was working fine with the exception of the odometer and that the car runs and drives without any issue:
