Description

Relisting my 1971 Volvo 1800E after we came across additional service information for the vehicle. It was purchased from the Gothenburg factory in Sweden by my grandfather as a gift to my Aunt. It was delivered to their home in Rockford, Illinois on January 4, 1971. I've come across the warranty and service booklet that my Aunt kept up to date during her ownership of the vehicle. The last entry for the 60,000 mile maintenance service was carried out on 3/29/76 and it looks like the mileage was around 61,700 at that time (the writing is difficult to read, please see photo.) There is an additional number of 24,481 listed below. I've spoken with my Aunt and she recalls there were issues with the speedometer at that time. She did not know if when the work was done the unit was replaced or not but it was at this time the odometer was either reset or run back to 24,481. Considering the odometer currently says 38,958 it is our best guess the mileage for this vehicle is around 100,000 at most.
My Aunt gifted the vehicle to my father in 1976, right around the last maintenance recording. My father was a licensed Volvo mechanic and any work done on the vehicle after that time would have been by him. I do know he painted all his vehicles white (he was an avid car collector,) and shortly after taking ownership he had a friend paint the vehicle white. The original robin egg blue color can be seen in the few chips present in the current pain. The other modification that occurred was that he added a T-top. Any other maintenance done to the vehicle is unfortunately unknown to me, as I inherited the vehicle with my Father's estate. I have known the vehicle my entire life and do not recall a time that it was used for more than a leisure vehicle on the weekends.
I took ownership of the vehicle in 2007 and it has been garaged during this entire period and I know it was also garaged the entire time my father had possession. My husband drove this car in the spring and summer annually and the last time it was driven was the summer of 2017. At that time it was in good working condition and no apparent issues were present. It is not currently running and we've done little to investigate. The vehicle is not used by us frequently enough to make sense keeping it and we would love for it to go to someone who would give it the attention and use it deserves.
The vehicle is being sold as-is due to the lack of investigation on why it isn't currently running as of this summer. No reserve.
