Description

You are bidding on the indomitable Stella, my beloved 1976 Volvo 265, as well as the bragging rights of being the life of the party in any Trader Joe’s parking lot. Stella has a lot of character, still runs, and has been my constant companion the last five years driving me to and from work about 10 miles away. She is quite charismatic and recognizable, and gets a lot of attention. She shines up beautifully!

The Details:

For a brief period of time, Volvo badged their models based on the number of doors/cylinders... so this 240 is also a 265 because of the hatchback so iconic to the wagon style... and the 6 refers to the V6 engine.

I purchased Stella in Maryland in 2012 where she was garaged and driven very little. She has the shockingly low mileage of: 113137.

Her paint is original. She has been either garaged or under a car cover (included) with me since that time, and thus has just a little surface rust along the edges (as seen in photos). I have delicately treated this from time to time to slow its progression. She is also oil-spray ready, and has been oil-sprayed in the past. The interior is in GREAT condition. The front seats are not original, but do not distract. She is a 4-speed with push-button OD (which I was told was a limited edition feature)… she is a bit slow at getting up to speed at this point, but drives just fine around town. The gas mileage is surprisingly decent (over 20mpg). I replaced her air conditioning about 3 years ago (yes this beauty from 1976 actually has factory air conditioning). It needs a charge, but works pretty well. Her transmission was replaced in 2013.

I’m really struggling to part with this incredible iconic car, but I’ve decided that it’s probably best for her to retire, and be with a collector who can restore her to her original beauty. The name “Stella” comes with her, and is inseparable from her.
