Description

1947 Willys-Jeep Truck
4-Wheel-Drive Project Builder
This Willys-Jeep was in the process of restoration when its Willys-Jeep enthusiast sadly owner passed away. This Willys-Jeep truck needs to go to a good home/owner that will finish it with the same enthusiasm this project has been built with. You can see the time that has went into it. The metal is very solid throughout. He had plans to finish it out in red white & blue to use in parades. This gentleman was a real car lover. Enjoy the presentation and if this unique '47 Willys-Jeep truck gives you the itch, bid with confidence. The reserve is very low. It is being sold with a BILL OF SALE & Factory VIN Plate. The gentleman never titled it when he purchased it. Again, there is NO TITLE for this vehicle, it is being sold with a Bill of Sale. I help people sell their classic cars of all types and conditions & am based in Terrell, Texas. View my feedback as an EBAY Motors seller and bid with confidence. Thank you. - Sam Mallow 972-748-6389
The bed is beautifully done. The interior was stripped out and he was working on some custom gauges, all of this is included. (SEE PHOTOS). We have the Bill of Sale from the gentleman he purchased it from along with the VIN plate. It is mostly there with the main parts such as the fenders, hood, and grille assembly included. The 4-wheel-drive running gear is intact. The L-head 4 cylinder engine will run with a battery charger and a can of gas. It is paired with the 3 or 4? speed manual transmission. The tires were recently replaced all around. From my inspection you can see the front brake lines have been changed recently as well.

According to his son & daughter, this little L-Head motor would fire up and run with a can of gas and a battery charger hooked to it. I believe it too, looks intact throughout. The firewall also looks to be in very good condition.

The custom gauges are included along with the original speedometer cluster & various original emblems & trim. We have a nice piece of exterior brightwork that was chromed and still wrapped in paper.

We've got the grille assembly, fenders, and hood that are included. We can help you load it up, everything should secure in and or on this vehicle for transport.

The doors and roofline are in great shape. A good friend of mine did the bodywork and it wasn't too far from paint. It is staying indoors until it is sold.

Again, the interior was fairly gutted out and was in the process of restoration. This old Jeep/Willys really is solid, check out those original floors.

Front brake lines recently replaced.

The tires were all new, I believe that had just been installed recently.

These seats are just "seats" I don't remember if I mention that all of the glass is intact, it is all there.

I honestly do not know if this is the original Borg-Warner T-90 3 speed or its a 4 speed one or the other. I'm not making any "matching number" guarantees or claims on this sweet project builder Willys.

I think these gauges are from some time ago.

This old heater is absolutely from a LONG time ago. This didn't come from Autozone folks. I believe its an original heater of the time.

These old pedals are all intact as are the pedal assemblies.

This appears to be the original color? I believe you'd call this Shawnee Red from my "google" education on 1947 Jeep colors.

There are some various parts that are included, some in the box above. There are headlights and bezels among other parts.

This beautiful piece of trim has been rechromed and was removed to photograph it.

The fenders are in good shape as is the hood.

The doors have a great factory ribbed design and these cool body lines carry over the back of the cab, albeit more subtle.

The following 17-minute video depicts early post-war Jeep models including the Willys-Jeep truck like this one. This is vintage advertising, enjoy.

(1946-1964) WILLYS JEEP PICKUP TRUCK

Production Total:Over 200,000

Willys Jeep Pickup Truck Illustration

Willys Trucks are perhaps not nearly as well known as the ubiquitous and familiar "Jeep" (CJ Universal) or Station Wagon. Nevertheless, Willys did produce a number of different truck models, including the Pickup, Stake Bed, and Cab & Chassis models.

Similar to the Willys Jeep Wagon, and equipped with the same 134 cu in "Go-Devil" engine and 3-speed Borg-Warner T-90 manual transmission as the CJ-2A, the Willys Pickup Truck was introduced in 1947, available in both 2T and 4T models. The 4x4 "Jeep Truck" model had the same 118 inch wheelbase as the 4x2 pickup, and an identical pickup bed which was 79" (w) x 15.75" (h). The 4WD model was rated at 5,300 gvw, with a 1 ton payload. The three speed transmission and two speed transfer gave six forward speeds, two in reverse, and could be ordered with a PTO." [1]

"In 1949, the "Jeep Truck" emblem was replace by an emblem reading only "4 wheel drive" and a single bench unit replaced the 1/3-2/3 seat, which now tilted forward for access to undersea storage." [2]

In 1950, the truck became the "473" with the "Hurricane" 4-cyl engine as an option. Like the Station Wagon, the 473 model included a modification to the grille, which now formed a "V" shape in the center, and included the addition of 5 horizontal bars. [2] When this happened, the radiator attachment was changed from the chassis to the nosepiece. [2] Another change in 1950 saw the discontinuation of the two-wheel drive model. In the following year (1951), the 2WD 1-ton and 1/2-ton trucks were also discontinued, leaving only the 4WD models.

"In 1951, a few new body styles were added to the options list including the stake bed, a Flat Face Cowl model (FFC), and a cab and chassis option (no rear body). These options were available until 1964. Aside from this, and the changes for the new starter (bell-housing and flywheel), the 1951 trucks remained very similar to the 1950 and 1952 models." [2]

In 1953, the 473 became the "475" and the number of horizontal grille bars dropped from five to three. The 475 did not last considerably long, and was available only until the introduction of the 6-226 model in the following year. The 6-226 model, with a 226 cu in 6-cylinder "Super Hurricane" engine, continued in production through 1962, when it was replaced by the 6-230 Tornado OHC engine. One more change was notable in 1954, which was the addition of a large window in the back which essentially covered the cab of the truck.

"1955-1958 saw very little changes, with a few modifications to the center grille bar location, and conversion to 12-volt electrics, until 1959, when a chrome strip was added, running from the edge of the hood to the trailer edge of the door. While this new strip adopted a style similar to that of the station wagon in the years following, this look remained somewhat unchanged through the rest of production, which ended in 1964." [2]
