Description
I bought this Willys just over a year ago and it has sat in the garage since, only driven once a week to keep everything tip top. My intention was to create a VERY cool snow plow vehicle, but ended up buying a house with a tractor. So, this jeep is still in great condition and sitting in my garage. I replaced the brakes and wheel brake cylinders because they were leaking a bit. Plus changed almost all of the brake lines (just in case). I will also thrown in the donor '55 Jeep Willys and the overdrive (no title).
You will need to pick it up in Erie, Colorado or arrange shipping at your cost.
Here is the original description from the person I purchased this from...1955 Willis jeep in superb rust free condition. This is a 2 owner jeep, I have a copy of the original title. This jeep was an oddity, very solid. The old F head engine cranks right up but does have some smoke. The transmission is tight, shifts like new. Cute little jeep, I'm sure it had a lot of use at some point but the miles are unknown. it was well cared for and obviously not left out in the weather for 50 years so it was probably kept in a barn, making it a barn find. I also have the warn overdrive I will install for an additional fee if the buyer is interested. Seats are brand new and the jeep is well detailed. A few nice points:1) new windshield and paint2) rhino lined interior3) roll bar added. Homebrew top supports will accept a CJ7 soft top. Has an old one on it (enough to keep the rain out)4) completely serviced, original speedo. Did add some in dash gages and its all new wires5) no filler, no bondo to crack. Exterior will have some small dents but no hidden surprises and easy to touch up.6) roadworthy and street legal.
Most jeeps go through years of evolution and are generally rusted out and rebuilt many times over. This one was mostly original and I didn't expect it to run. On the lift, it was such a nice example that I decided not to upgrade the motor. The little F head is around 70HP, but with the low gears this thing will off road excellent. It was designed to idle in low gear at a foot pace in WW2. I see people drop big bucks on ATV's, yet still have a vehicle of little use for hauling some gear, dogs and friends. I serviced the gear boxes and changed the oil, its almost weird how well it runs and it's even quite stable. High range, low range, hubs, transfer case, diffs- all are tight. This is the ride for the off roader that likes a little vintage and this is a far better investment than an ATV. You can get up to 55 but the RPM is high so 45 is a realistic top end. I can add an overdrive for an additional fee if interested. its still a very useful extra vehicle and pretty handy for a lot of uses. Endless aftermarket upgrades are available but I personally would leave it as is.
About me- I'm a car guy and find lots of rust free western vehicles. Its a hobby so I enjoy tinkering. You can see I'm 100% rated- I don't care to misrepresent the car nor do I need to. East coast buyers are always amazed to see what rust free really means and I also get a lot of Canadians. You have to contact me through ebay, too many scammer these days and I also require a paypal deposit- again to weed out the scammers. I also prefer that you see it in person and if anything is misrepresented I'll gladly refund and undo the deal. Only sold on an as is basis.
On Feb-20-16 at 10:56:36 PST, seller added the following information:I have been asked quite a bit about the overdrive. I'm long on project cars and I have it on another 55 willys jeep that is the donor car. I will toss in the overdrive but you install it. I'll also toss in the second 55 willys donor car but it does not have a vin, title or a motor. That said, it also has a solid tub, a fiberglass top and a full cage rollbar. These old jeeps are fun but I have too many projects and need to free up some space. So, my reserve is 5K and you are welcome to the donor car if you win. It rolls but you will need to tow it
On Feb-20-16 at 16:46:21 PST, seller added the following information:I used the cream Willy to pull the donor car up to the shop. The Donor jeep has the WARN overdrive and a adaptor to mount a ford small block to the tranny. So here are your options, you can take the donor jeep or you can pull the tranny and whatever parts you want at my shop if you win the auction from the donor jeep. If you don't want the carcass then I need to keep it as a roller so the diffs have to stay on. So, if you are into old willys CJ5 you can score 2 for the price of 1. The donor jeep is pretty solid and would make a great builder. And feel free to come out and take a look sunday before the auction closes if your in the Denver area.
