Description

This incredible 1940 Willys coupe is the kind of rod most guys only dream of owning. Count this as your chance to take home a show-winning rod that is every bit a match for those cars you've been drooling over in the magazines for the past 20 years. LS1 power, a crankin' stereo, and an outrageous snakeskin interior make this car a total rock star. The body is by Dennis Taylor, and if you know his work, you know this is a first-class build all the way. With impeccable fit and finish, this fiberglass rod is more than a match for its steel counterparts and benefits from modern engineering that give it a highly polished feel on the road. The Viper Red lower body sizzles, but is balanced by the striking charcoal gray upper, all separated by an airbrushed bit of stainless trim that follows the body's natural contours. Shaved handles, that classic Willys grille, and teardrop headlights are classic design cues that are neatly incorporated into this rod, along with those incredibly gothic taillights, and that little pod just below the trunk opening is a back-up camera. This car looks right, sits right, and won't be mistaken for anything else on the road. The incredible interior is perhaps even more outrageous than the body, with charcoal gray ultraleather buckets highlighted by snakeskin accents on the seats, door panels, and even the steering wheel. A custom dash full of Auto Meter carbon fiber instruments has a classic and simple layout, and a custom center console houses the Lokar shifter for the 4L60E 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission underneath. There's also every creature comfort you could ask for, including Vintage Air A/C, power windows and locks, and a stereo system powerful enough to make your ears bleed. It includes a Jensen AM/FM/CD/DVD head unit with a 7-inch monitor in the dash along with two 9-inch screens in the trunk. A pair of 5x9 speakers augmented by a 10-inch subwoofer fills the cabin with sound, and the custom trunk enclosure is as slick-looking as the engine bay, so you'll want to show it off every chance you get.So many Willys rods are so over-built that they're next to impossible to drive, but this one carries a stout LS1 small block that's both powerful and tractable. Street & Performance provided a fuel injection system that makes it run like the Corvette from which it was borrowed, and includes an amazing custom intake cover by Dave's Rod Shop. A set of custom long-tube headers snake through the silver powdercoated frame and dump into an HPC-coated Flowmaster exhaust system. The front suspension is from Heidts and features tubular A-arms and coil-overs, while out back a fabricated 9-inch rear hangs on a 4-link with Aldan shocks. Inside, you'll find street-friendly 3.73 gears and there's a disc brake at all four corners, making this car easy to drive with impressive performance on the street. Classic Budnik Gasser billet wheels complete the look, wearing 205/50/16 front and 345/55/17 rear tires for a classic hot rod stance.Impressively built with a long list of A-list hardware, this is a first-class rod that's poised to take home some seriously big trophies. It would take somewhere around $130,000-$140,000 to build this car from scratch so whoever gets this beauty is really buying at a huge discount relative to the build cost.
