1980 Alfa Romeo Spider 2000 Veloce
NO RESERVE AUCTION - HIGH BID WINS
I got this cool spider from Richard of RML Auto in Daytona Beach Florida.... a true Alfa guru. He owned it for a few years and even let his son use to for a while to commute back and forth to school. It was upgraded from fuel injection to Dellorto Carbs, given a better ignition system and various other mechanical upgrades. It has an RML performance ignition installed and the fuel pump was replaced with a low pressure pump and the fuel return line removed from the chassis. He made the car as if it were Euro delivery.... No corners cut. Pedal linkage had to be changed to be correct etc. The car also got a new German clutch assembly right before I got it, so if there were any driveline issues they were done at that time.
This is a VERY original car, with original paint and interior except for the seats and doors which I have just had professionally refitted. The odometer shows 23,875 which I believe to be the actual true mileage. There are other documents which show that the original owner kept this car from 1980 until 2011. The car was purchased from them by Richard of RML, mentioned above.
YOU CAN SEE 150 PICS INCLUDING UNDERCARRIAGE HERE
Condition details: The paint is original with maybe four parking lot style door dings in various places. The original owners had commisioned the application of POLYOLEUM in 1980, which I beleive must be the thick black gooey stuff that we found covering the engine bay and underside of the hood. We spent a couple of days stripping this off and the result is an amazing engine bay. It had also been applied to the undercarriage and running boards, so the car has much less rust than it could have had. I have pics of the hood and engine bay before we removed this stuff and I will send you a link if you contact me. i didn't want to include them in the bulk of pics because some people don't read the description and it could have been confusing for them.
There aren't any spots with serious rust concerns except the rear bumper. Underneath the rubber, that bumper looks to be very rusty, you can see it in the detailed pics, but the body overall has no serious rust concerns.
The car is Ivory not White. It has a sort of yellow tint to it in the sunlight. See the detailed pics for some outdoor pics.
Ths interior... carpet, dash, seats, door trim etc, all excellent conditioon. The carpet really screams "20k original miles". I had the seats and dopors redone. The original leather just suffered from the Florida sun. ALSO... The original delivery paper sticker explaining how to break the car in from new, still hangs on the passenger side sun visor!
All lights and electrics work. The ac works but isn't very cold. i've never really messed with this, to find out why. The radio is original and has a little static as you turn the volume knob. That cassette info hanging on the stereo knob was found in the glovebox.
The top is very good. I don't know if this is original or if it was replaced at some point.
THE BAD ... Both windows do not operate. Everything is there in the driver's window, the passenger side is missing a couple of pulleys. Both switches and motors operate. The driver's side just needs someone to spend the time to get the cables right. Everything is there for it to work and it can be repaired by anyone who is mechanically competent.... it just takes a lot of time to wind the cable around the regulator, test it, rewind the cable etc etc. The passenger window has almost everything it needs except maybe two pulleys.
It comes with the original window sticker, original owners manual, original maintenance book and some historical documentation.
It has a set of aftermarket wheels, but comes with all four original wheels too.
It has been converted to carburetors but includes original injection equipment too.
Clean and clear title in hand. I expect a deposit within 24 hours and payment in full within 7 days. This is a no reserve auction but the car is for sale locally. Therefore I will also accept offers from eBay members. HOWEVER... please do your homework to determine what would be considered a reasonable offer. I believe this car to fall in the good to fair range. Closer to "good" because of the carb upgrade and originality. This is how Hagarty values this model:$18,800 - concours$12,800 - excellent$9,900 - good$6,800 - fair
