Description

1970 AMX#'sMatchingShow car-local trophy winner. A "turn-key" - get in and go to the show.
  • Engine/Ride/Drive:One of best running (quick), driving, sounding AMX’s on planet. Starts right away- 99% of time on first turn! Stiff/tight ride (most of these run pretty loose/shaky). Sounds like it should (nice hot rod growl, but not fake). Needs nothing. You simply can't do much better.

  • Body: Straight as an arrow from EVERY angle.NOrust and ding free (as you would expect).

  • Interior:No issues whatsoever; Dash is perfect. Seats are perfect. Carpet like new. Door panels like new. Headliner like new. Console = 9/10 original condition.

  • Mechanically: Everything works (minus clock)

  • Miscellaneous:Wheels, glass, rubber moldings, nuts-screws-bolts, = like new. High attention detail throughout.

Factory Options (Loaded):

1.Functional Ram Air,Power Steering,Power Brakes,Tilt Column Only 823 equipped,AM/FM Radio-it works perfectly (AM radio was standard) only 482 equipped, Clock- Currently NOT working,Electric wipers,Remote driver mirror, andPassenger mirror. (they didn't make a lot of options - she's not a caddy, but the options they did make this one has like the Ram Air and Tilt steering wheel - just having the clock pretty cool otherwise an empty gauge).

Appearance Upgrades: The color – “Glen Green Metallic” – (Steve McQueen's Bullitt 'Green),Original (1970 – 1st year offered) Mark Donohue rearspoiler,Original 1970 Crager S/S mags (Vintage 1970).

This car is not a "Trailer Queen" car, but you can actually drive this ride and take to shows.

This is easily in the top 3-5% of '70 AMX's still alive. These are going up in value - only made 4,116 (1970) - Most people consider the "BEST" of the three years they were made and by far the rarest. See very bottom for some facts and #'s on AMX if you are not familiar.

NOTE: As you will see I used natural light in taking these pictures and due to the high shine of the paint everything reflects off it and may cast something back that appears to be a flaw- THERE ARE NO FLAWS. Those are just reflections (same for chrome). I apologize for any inconvenience (message or call me if you have any doubts).

AMX - Stands for American Motors Experimental. They were offered for 3 years.Production: 1968 = 6,725 1969 = 8,293 and 1970 = 4,1161968-1969 - looked the same - 1970 - complete face-lift New front, twin hood scoops, and side trim. Nothing against the '68/'69, but this is the one that is really popping in value for pretty obvious reasons. *1970 360/auto is the most "cannibalized" of them all and only a few left known in existence - this being one of them (and probably the finest example on the planet).*This car was first owned by one of the top executives from the Kenosha AMC Headquarters. My first 70 AMX was a 390/4 speed- with the slight modifications made on this speed wise a wash (this is "vintage classic staying original muscle" - you want speed buy the new muscle or buy this and modify the engine/tranny). I personally think this is the coolest looking AMX - clean Bullitt Green and rear spoiler to go with the twin hood scoops and side trim. I also like having the center console and pistol grip. This car is as fun to drive as it is to look at- you don't see many so you get a lot of "WOW-what's that?"Definitely a unique piece of Americana - lots of Camaros, Firbirds, Mustangs, Challengers, Corvettes, etc. - not many of these.

To put the rarity of the AMX in perspective (4,116 produced in 1970):The 2-seater AMX was made to compete directly with the Corvette in 1970 - of which they made over 4x as many 17,316
