1965 Austin Healey 3000 MKIII BJ8 – All Matching Numbers - Two Owner Car
This gorgeous mostly original car with all matching numbers was purchased by my father from the original owner in 1973 and has been in our family since.Odometer shows only 4,900 miles, but the speedometer was replaced – Approximate total mileage is actually 34,000. Original six-cylinder engine with four speed manual transmission with electronic overdrive. Clear Texas title.
Starts, runs smoothly & shifts well. It handles well, tracks straight & turns correctly. All lights, turn signals & wipers work properly.
Known issues:
-Generator isn't charging the battery;
-Electronic overdrive & tachometer do not work;
-Brakes are a little spongy (need bleeding);
-Rim on the steering wheel is deteriorating.
Everything else works as it should. Brake calipers have been rebuilt with all new seals and new brake lines. Carburetors have been rebuilt and work well. Car has been well maintained and is in very nice overall condition. Body is clean and straight. Solid state SU fuel pump upgrade.Polarity is reversible if you want to switch to a negative ground.
Red paint is approximately 10 years old, as is the convertible top and the carpet. Seats are original along with the interior panels, but in less than ideal condition. Wood dash panel is in excellent condition. Stereo is missing. Sold as-is with no warranty.
My dad owned this car for 38 years & my older brother has kept it garaged since he passed in 2011, driving it short distances every couple of weeks. This is a true classic that represents the last of the Big Healeys. It is a true joy to drive and turns heads wherever it goes!
I live in Nashville, Tennessee, but the car is located in Emory, Texas 75440 – I’m simply helping him facilitate the sale of the car. Please ask any questions you may have before bidding! If you would like to discuss, please call David at 903-474-7261.
