Description

Up for sale is my Street Legal 1961 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite
I'm selling it to help fund a workshop venture and I also need the space it occupies.
This is what I know of it's history. I bought the car off of a 1275 engine builder in Carlsbad named Mickey. He rebuilt the entire engine and drivetrain. ($7,500+ in receipts) He bought the car from the Craftsmanship Museum in Carlsbad. ($7,500)It was originally going to be built as a vintage racer but the owner passed away before completed. It's an older restoration that shows some signs of wear. Mechanically it's a great car. Starts on the first pull and has never left me stranded.
My wife and I take it for Sunday cruises and car meets. Since I bought it I re-did and upgraded the electronics. (Ignition, coil, alternator, plugs, wires and fuse box) I also re-did the fuel delivery, tie rods and water pump. New timing cover. I have around $2,000 in receipts. Most would call this a restomodded vehicle. Old meets new.
Total invested is $17,000.
1275 Engine bored .040 over
600 Miles since rebuild
Oil Pressure 70+ cruising and 50 at idle

If you are looking for a vintage ready race car this would be a good one to look at. With it's current engine and upgrades in would run in the modified class. Currently tuned to run on pump gas. Estimated HP is around 90-95.
What needs work / make it your own: (Mostly interior work if you want it to be a cruiser)
Gauges are a mixed of different brands. Tach is voltage based. Fuel reads full all the time and oil temp gauge does not work.
Dash leather is pulling back a bit. Could use a re-do.
Seats are racing seats so very lightweight but not so comfortable.
I'll post more as I have time. Included of before and after shots of the engine.
I'm in no hurry to sell. Let me know what you have to trade! will consider all trades including motorcycles!
Please do not call me and try to assist me in selling it.
