Description

The Paul Bracq-designed E24 6-Series coupe remains one of the most charismatic modern BMW designs. Developed into its ultimate M635CSi specification from 1983 by BMW's M Motorsport division and featuring a wet-sump version of the M1 supercar's 3.5-liter DOHC six-cylinder engine, the M635CSi debuted at Frankfurt in 1983. Most commonly known as the M6, it was produced in five distinct variations depending upon the destination market. North American examples Model 5514 were emission-compliant with the Type S38 engine producing 256 SAE-rated horsepower. Production of these cars ran from November 1986 through September 1988 with ONLY 1,767 TOTAL CARS EVER PRODUCED IN THREE YEARS!. All M6 bodyshells were built by Karmann at Osnabruck, with final assembly at BMW's Dingolfing works. M6 performance features were many, including a front air dam, sport suspension, limited-slip differential, and Michelin TRX tires on alloy wheels. Options included power front seats, rear air conditioning, and a beverage cooler. BMW's claimed performance data included 0-60 acceleration in 6.4 seconds and a top speed nudging 160 mph. With its spectacular performance, exceptional handling and roomy, comfortable interior, the E24-based M6 continues to rank as one of Germany's - and the world's - finest GT cars ever designed and built. Accolades for the M6 came swiftly, especially from America, where hungry buyers had to wait until 1985 to buy one. Featuring a cover shot of an M6 at speed, the cover of the July 1987 Car and Driver declared Move over Mercedes the M Cars are here! While some questioned the car's near-60,000 price, C&D's Rich Ceppos wrote, There's no arguing though. If you're a true aficionado, the M6 is gonna get you. Anything as Mmmm-good as this car always does. This M6 is a original California car and comes with a clean car fax and is factory finished in a stunning color combination!
