Description
It is with great heartache that I am posting this 1991 BMW 850i Automatic for sale, as I thought I would never part with it... I bought it 6 years ago in March of 2013 with a little over 100,000 miles. Until preparing this listing, I had never added up all the bills over the years but I have a stack totaling over $61,625.00 spent on it since my ownership, and does not include the purchase price. These bills are being scanned so that I can email them to any interested buyers. I have taken good care of the car but now, it is time for someone else to enjoy.
Regrettably, the car recently overheated and I was told that the water pump's belt let go. That loosened up the seal and caused damage to the head gasket. So, the vehicle is being sold as a project because oil and water do not mix. I have a couple of videos below showing the interior/exterior of the car and it being started, but I am not driving it any longer.
When I got the car, it was wearingOEM 16inbasketweaves which were promptly replaced with ESM/BBS LM replicas sporting 19x8.5 wheels on 235/35/19's in the front and 19x9.5 on 275/35/19's in the rear. The actual tires on the car at the moment have less than 250 miles on all 4 of them. The car is riding on H&R sport springs as well as Bilstein struts on all 4 corners replaced on September 2018. The car came with a CSi badge and after a couple of months into ownership, I ended up purchasing from Gault BMW an OEM CSi front and rear spoiler set along with the mirrors, brackets, etc. The car sports a front license plate delete insert which I also purchased. I then bought an Alpina-style fiberglass hood from a fellow bimmerforum member and had a rear deck spoiler as well as a roof spoiler installed. I acquired new front turn signals, housings, and lenses. I then had the entire car painted silver and put a carbon fiber wrap on the roof, whiletinting the windows, the front turn signals as well as the rears.
Theengine had been gonethrough extensively andmost of the work, including a single bill for $19K, was done at Redline Bimmer Performance in Pompano Beach, FL. The transmission was completely redone in 2014. I hadWokke chips put in the car, K&N filters, and it has a rear 3:91 rear differential from an M5. The current mileage is 137,643, having averaged alittle over 6K miles for each of the last 6 years Ihave owned the car. I have invoices for absolutely everything. It has a 10in JL Audio subwoofer mated to a decent amp (cannot locate info on it) and a 6-month oldAlpine head unit with bluetooth. All electrics on the car work as they should, with the exception of the horn.
When I got the car, the interior was in very nice shape. I immediately purchased a set of Lloyd's mats from Pelican Parts for the fronts which are still in very good condition. I replaced the shifter and installed analuminum pedal set, plus an a/c bezel surround out of Germany for e31's. I then had the headliner redone in black suede. Thereafter, I had a custom made steering wheel with suede inserts, silverstitching to match the vehicle's exterior, and a carbon fiber airbag to match the wrap in the roof. I replaced the front CSi spoiler in September 2018 and had both bumpers repainted while also replacing the front/rear carbon fiber style badges.
I currently own acouple of older cars as well and have realized that because I do notknow how to work on my cars, that I must now use a car that has a warranty. Thus, this car has to go and as evidenced by the stack of documents, it serves as a great foundation for the new buyer, who can install an engine of their own choosing and enjoy many more miles with the chassis. I am selling this car as a project and shipping will be the buyer'sresponsibility. However, as a result of my policy with Hagerty, I can assist the buyer with up to 60 miles of towing from area code 33401 (West Palm Beach). Personal inspections are welcomed and Iencourage any prospective buyer to make any inquiries prior to purchase since all sales are finaland the car is being sold "As-Is". Additional photographs of the car are available. I will not remove any parts from the car, so please do not make any requests for same. I hope it ends up in a good home.
As far as the videos are concerned,
the first one shows a walk around of the car right until I tried to start it, without realizing the steering had been inadvertently locked. So, I filmed a second video which shows more of the car with a brief walk around and no steering wheel locked upon turning it on...
