THIS AUCTION HAS NO RESERVE !!!

Up for auction is a 1947 Buick Roadmaster Series 70, four-door sedan. This was considered one of the premier post-World War II luxury cars for the American family and served as Buick’s flagship from 1946 to 1957.It is powered by a 320 cubic inch Fireball I8 engine with 276 lb-ft of torque, and a three speed transmission with the shifter on the column. This combination was used on the larger chassis and heavier vehicles, such as this Roadmaster. I believe is has the Carter 609 2-barrel carburetor. I know it is the original engine as the engine casting stamp by the oil dipstick is used as the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) which matches what is on the title.

The interior is in excellent condition although I am not a fan of the green carpet for the floorboards and on the bottom of the door panels. The rear seat is like sitting on your living room couch. The only thing missing is the flat screen television and remote control. The headliner is also in excellent condition.Seatbelts have been added as a safety feature.

The car has been repainted at least once and I do not believe it may be the original color. The metal areas in the interior are a gun-metal gray. However, that could have been a standard interior color for the metal areas.I do not know how old the paint is, but it is in fair to good condition. It definitely shines up quite well.On the right rear fender area there are some signs of hazing and some slight cracking in the paint.

It has the original glass and it does show some minor “separation” in some areas. The chrome is solid. There is some surface rust and some pitting. Many pieces of the chrome can be polished out, but there are some pieces that will need to be re-chromed to bring back the brightness of chrome. The hood is topped off with the iconic “bomb sight” hood ornament.

It definitely drives like a car of the late 1940’s. Leans into the curves of the road and rides like you are riding on the gentle ways on the ocean.I am not sure if the mileage is the actual mileage or if it has already turned over.I believe it may be the original miles, but I cannot guarantee it.The engine runs quite well and is very quiet. When you pull up to a stop sign or traffic light, the engine is so quiet that you think it may have stalled. It is that quiet. Overall, it is a solid car in need of TLC.

I have put approximately 350 miles on it over the last 16 months.

Since I have had the car, I have kept it stored in a heated storage facility with a winter temperature of 50 degrees.

Why am I selling it?I bought it on impulse last year and paid much more than I should have, with the intent to fully restore it.I wanted a car from the 1940’s for my collection, one from each decade, the 1930’s through the 1970’s, and I bought this car to represent the 1940’s. Even though it is a great car, it just does not fit in very well into my collection. So I am letting it go as I am running out of room to store my cars. So I am letting this one and a couple others go.

Capitalize on my impulsive error in judgement and get a very nice vintage vehicle for a great price!
