1968 Buick GS 400 Convertible
Description
All original numbers matching with under 100k miles.
If you are not familiar with the GS 400 you can read a very good description of the model here: musclecarclub.com under Buick-gs.
The body and interior colors are factory correct and match the coding on the fisher body tag.
The top is new and is in excellent condition as is the rear window. The top power mechanism functions perfectly.
The interior upholstery has been replaced and is in excellent condition.
All floor pans and trunk pans are rock solid with no holes.
The engine starts and runs beautifully. It is all original with the exception of the HEI electronic ignition which replaces the points and condenser.
Drum brakes all around.Bucket seats.TH400 automatic transmission.4 barrel Rochester carburetor.Power steering.Power brakes.Dual exhaust sounds great.AC is installed and engages, but does not blow cold. I don’t use it as I always have the top down. Heater works perfectly.
Front and rear bumpers have been re-chromed and are in excellent condition. All accessories function properly.Dash pad is in excellent condition.
The paint has some chips which I’ve tried to capture in the photos. Also, it has some rust coming through in the common spots (i.e. the lower fenders and corner of the door) which I’ve also tried to capture in the photos. Otherwise the paint looks good and it makes for a great driver quality car.
The engine runs well as one would expect for a 48 year old engine that was well cared for. The engine starts right up, runs strong, making the car a lot of fun to drive.
The car is garage kept and enjoys a heated space in winter. It is always under a car cover when in the garage.
The radio is the original Buick radio chassis, but the functioning components of it have been replaced to enable AM/FM operation. It also has an external jack (which is hidden in the glovebox) that enables you to play music through the radio from your mobile phone. Matching speakers are located in the kick panels.
The car comes with a car cover, the original 1968 Buick chassis manual (the front and back covers are loose), 1968 Fisher Body manual, original protect-o-plate and owners manual.
I am happy to arrange for a test drive for anyone interested, however I work full time (often more than 40 hours per week) so I request flexibility in scheduling.
Please feel free to post questions and I’ll reply at my earliest opportunity.
