Description

NOTE:

THIS IS NOT JUST ANOTHER 1941 BUICK! THIS IS A TWO-OWNER SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA RUST-FREE CAR THAT HAS BEENMOSTLY RESTORED AND PRESENTS A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY FOR SOMEONE TO COMPLETE THE SMALL ITEMS AND GREATLY INCREASE THE CAR’S VALUE!!!

THE ORIGINAL LADY OWNER HAD IT FOR 22 YEARS. THE 2ND OWNER PURCHASED IT FROM HER IN THE EARLY 1960’S, ABOUT 56 YEARS AGO!

THE 1941 BUICKS HAD STYLE AND PERFORMANCE. THEY WERE EXTREMELY DURABLE AND WELL MADE CARS. THE 1941 BUICKS HAD BEEN UPGRADED OVER THE 1940 MODELS. UNDER THE HOOD WAS A 248 CUBIC-INCH FIREBALL STRAIGHT-EIGHT ENGINE THAT DELIVERED 125 HP @ 3,800 RPM AND 215 LB/FT OF TORQUE @ 2,000 RPM, THANKS TO NEW COMPOUND TWIN CARBURETION. ONE CARBURETOR WAS DESIGNED TO OPERATE AT LOWER SPEEDS, BUT UNDER FULL THROTTLE, THE SECOND CARBURETOR WOULD KICK IN. THE THREE-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION WAS NOW OPERATED BY A COLUMN SHIFT. ADDING TO THE VEHICLE’S CONVENIENCE, THE HOOD COULD NOW BE OPENED FROM EITHER SIDE!

THE NUMBER OF 1941 UNITS SOLD SET AN ALL TIME SALES RECORD FOR BUICK. THE ENGINES WERE AS TROUBLE FREE AS ANY PRE-WAR CAR, AND THE MATERIALS USED WERE OF HIGH QUALITY THROUGHOUT.

OF COURSE, THE BIGGEST CONCERN ON ANY COLLECTOR CAR IS RUST. FLOORS, TRUNK FLOOR AND ROCKER PANELS ARE THE MOST LIKELY SPOTS. THIS PARTICULAR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA DRY-CLIMATE EXAMPLE IS ESSENTIALLY RUST-DAMAGE FREE!

BUICK DESCRIBED THEIR 1941 BUICK AS “THE BEST BUICK YET”!

BEFORE RESTORATION WORK BEGAN, THIS 1941 BUICK WAS AN EXCELLENT TWO-OWNER “SURVIVOR”. THE CAR HAS ALWAYS RUN EXTREMELY WELL, AS IT STILL DOES TODAY. THE ELDERLY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA GENTLEMAN OWNER INTENDED TO HAVE IT COMPLETELY RESTORED. THE CAR WAS SENT TO A RESTORATION SHOP WHERE WORK WAS BEGUN. MOST OF THE NEEDED RESTORATION WORK WAS COMPLETED INCLUDING NEW PAINT, NEW CHROME, NEW INTERIOR, NEW WIRING LOOM, NEW GAS TANK, NEW SPARK PLUG WIRES, EXCELLENT RE-DONE INTERIOR “WOOD” TRIM ON THE DASH AND DOOR PANELS, REDONE INSTRUMENTS AND THE RADIATOR WAS RE-CORED. AS IS TOO OFTEN THE CASE, THE SHOP STOPPED WORKING ON THE CAR AND AFTER SOME TIME IT WAS REMOVED AND TAKEN TO A 2ND SHOP FOR COMPLETION. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, THE 2ND SHOP NEVER FULLY COMPLETED THE WORK AND THE CAR ENDED UP WITH SOME SCRATCHES IN THE PAINT AND SOME DIRT ON THE DRIVER’S SIDE CARPET. THE CAR WAS REMOVED FROM THAT SHOP AND THE DECISION WAS MADE TO SELL THE FAMILY’S MUCH LOVED BUICK AS IT IS. THE OWNER IS A VERY DEAR FRIEND OF MINE, SO THE BUICK WAS BROUGHT TO MY HOME FOR ME TO ASSIST IN THE SALE OF THE VEHICLE. THE SCRATCHES HAVE BEEN TOUCHED UP, THE CARPET CLEANED, AND A NEW BATTERY INSTALLED.

THIS IS AN EXCELLENT-RUNNINGSOUTHERN CALIFORNIADRY-CLIMATE CAR! AS SUCH, THERE WERE NEVER ANY WEATHERING ISSUES. THAT IS ONE REASON WHY COLLECTORS ARE WILLING TO PAY HIGH PREMIUMS FOR DRY-CLIMATE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CARS!

THIS IS AN EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY TO ACQUIRE THIS 1941 BUICK AND BE ABLE TO REALIZE A SUBSTANCIAL INCREASE IN VALUE ONCE THE FINAL DETAILS ARE DONE!!!

ALL PARTS WILL BE PROPERLY REBOXED AND PLACED IN THE TRUNK FOR SHIPPING.

Vehicle Condition:

DURING THE RESTORATION, THE CAR RECEIVED A VERY HIGH-QUALITY PAINT JOB, RE-CHROMED BUMPERS AND TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLIES, AND A NEW INTERIOR INCLUDING SEAT COVERS, CARPET, DOOR PANELS, HEADLINER AND EXCELLENT RE-DONE “WOOD” TRIM ON THE DASH AND DOOR PANELS! THE RADIATOR WAS RE-CORED AND A NEW WIRING LOOM, GAS TANK, BATTERY, SPARK PLUG WIRES AND HUB CAPS WERE INSTALLED! THE ORIGINAL KEY IS INCLUDED WITH THE CAR!

Some minor damage occurred to some of the restored components after they were completed. The left rear fender spear tip is missing (visible in the photo), the driver’s side windshield and the front passenger side wind wing are cracked, there are some tiny almost unnoticeable moth holes mainly to the rear carpet, and there is a very minor indentation in the left front fender that can easily and inexpensively be removed by a paint-less dent remover for about $75. The paint scratches have been touched up.

There are a few small components that I believe are missing. To the best of my knowledge, they are the air cleaner, the interior kick panels, fresh air pull knob, door lock buttons, 3 wind wing crank assemblies, the radio knobs and possibly other parts, the rear view mirror, two small exterior trim pieces that fit on the “B” pillars and center of the windshield, the “BUICK EIGHT” letters on the hood, two inserts on the trunk logo, the spare wheel and tire, all door locks, the glove box lock and the glove box insert. I have done my best to list all that is missing. The cables that should be attached to the "LIGHTS" and INST. LIGHT" pulls are not connected. The radio antenna, windshield wiper arms and outside mirror are there and need to be installed.

For some unknown reason, the odometer was set back to 0. The odometer read about 60,000 before that.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT ALL THE MAJOR WORK HAS BEEN DONE AND THIS IS AN EXCEPTIONAL OPPORTUNITY FOR THE RIGHT BUYER!
