Description

Up for sale is a rare 1962 Buick Electra 225 two door hardtop. I purchased this car out of Arizona and it has a solid frame, body, and floors .It has the original power steering, power brakes, power windows, and a power driver's seat. The front driver's side fender has a little bondo from what I suspect was a minor fender bender but I have a solid replacement fender that goes along with the car.
I completely rebuilt the engine from top to bottom. The crank and rods were in good shape and were retained with new bearings. The cylinders were bored .030 over and new pistons and rings were installed. The heads were rebuilt with new, high flow valves and seals, stiffer springs (the original springs were rather soft and had a tendency to float the valves at around 4000 rpm), new lifters and pushrods, and completely rebuilt stock shaft mounted rockers that included new shafts, bearings and tips. A new camshaft with improved geometry was installed with new bearings. A new water pump and housing as well as new timing chain and gears were installed. The stock high rise intake was mildly massaged to improve torque and was topped with a polished QuickFuel 750 cfm vacuum secondary carb. I built a custom mount for an alternator to replace the original generator and I installed a custom made billet HEI distributor. Finally, I installed ceramic coated Sanderson headers. All machine work was completed by Joe Gauger Racing Engines, a professional race engine shop. The engine now makes around 375 hp, a mild upgrade from the original 325 hp. In all, I invested around $6,000 in the engine alone.
After completing all the "go" work, I upgraded the "stop". Front drum brakes were replaced with disks and calipers. A new dual master cylinder was installed, and the brake booster was rebuilt.
A new aluminum radiator was installed as well. I had intended to install a newer automatic transmission, but the car currently still has the original two speed Dynaflow. I also bought and installed 4 brand new BF Goodrich Radial TA tires on the original rims.
What the car still needs:The interior needs to be gone through. The front seats are in need of the most help. I do have a set of tan leather seats from a Cadillac CTS that I had intended to install in the car because they have shoulder belts built into the seats and the Buick only has lap belts currently. They go with the car if the buyer is interested in them. The paint is a 10 foot paint job. The car was originally painted black but someone sprayed it red at some point and it's not show quality. The exhaust has not been installed yet, but I have the pipes in the trunk. The whole car has been sitting for a couple years since I last worked on it as a long, drawn out divorce took my attention and funding away and it could use a good tune up to run at it's best.
Buy it, tear it completely down and make a serious show car out of it, or slap the caddy seats up in the front and the exhaust pipes under it and make it a fun cruiser. Whatever you decide to do, it's just a cool car with a lot of possibilities. I had it appraised a couple years ago and it was valued at $10,000 in its current condition.
Buyer is responsible for picking up the car or arranging shipping. Don't bid unless you are going to complete the purchase. A $500.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of the sale and it will not be refunded is you fail to complete the purchase.
