Rare opportunity to own a numbers matching 1972 Buick GS show winner. NO RESERVE
I bought this car roughly 8 years ago. It was very nicely restored about 6 years before I bought it. I took the GS to several shows each year where it usually won in it's class. About 4 years ago I decided to perform another full restoration with the goal of showing it at large national shows and concours events. I had the Buick completelytaken apart and body stripped. It received an $8,000 top of the line paint job (Dupont base & clear), all interior and exterior trim was professionally restored to the highest standards, including bumpers, etc. The drive train was also completely rebuilt. The numbers matching Hi- Po 350 was rebuilt by Bob Small in San Clemente for roughly$7,000 (400HP and 525FT LBS). The transmission was rebuiltand beefed up by Hughes Transmission, the rear end was rebuilt as well as the drive shaft balanced. New custom mandrel bent exhaust with FlowMaster mufflers, upgraded control arms, fresh disc brakes, new power steering pump, master cyclinder, electronic ignition, aluminum intake, carb, headers, carb- no expense spared. The OEM air cleaner is around $2,000. The entire interior was painstakingly restored to the highest standards- as much NOS and OEM stuff as possible. Sent the dash and gauges out for professionalrestoration which cost $4,000 alone. All new seats, headliner, door panels (still in box), carpet, etc.. Spent roughly $45,000 on restoration not including the car (HAVE ALL RECEIPTS). As soon as we were at the midway point for reassembly, I had my first child and I had to hold up on the project to pay for all the new expenses that come with a child. I kept putting the restoration completion on hold year after year. We had another child and it just led to more delaying. Now my priorities have changed and I don't see myself having the time to show the car, let alone get out and drive it. I'm trying to start a new business now and need to raise some funds. Therefore, the Buick must go. I have had several people advise me that I should finish the restoration and sell the car restored, but I don't have the time to do that right now. Therefore, someone can get a top tier GSfor a fraction of the price by finishing the assembly or paying a shop to do so. The car needs to have the exterior trim put back on (I have it all wrapped up and labeled), interiordoor panels installed and engine reinstalled. Everything else is installed and ready to go. The only thing it would need that is not included is a new windshield.
The photos I have included show the car as she looks now and also in complete form right before the restoration took place. Just to clarify, the Buick was very nicely restored before I decided to do a top tier restoration. Now it will be simply breathtaking when assembled. I am realistic and understand I will get much less for the car now as opposed to finishing it, but I need the money now to put into my business venture. Please reach out if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer them thoroughly and honestly. You are more than welcome to come look at and inspect the car or bring a mechanic. You'll be very impressed.
