Description

El Dorado, the mythical South American "Lost City of Gold", and in the case of the Cadillac Eldorado, also the Gold Standard for personal luxury cars in 1971. They don't make 'em like this anymore. This car is an outstanding example of the way things were back then with its freshly rebuilt engine, nice shiny paint and the most luxurious interior you can imagine. Personal luxury cars can run the spectrum from sporty to luxurious. It's pretty... obvious which end of that spectrum this Cadillac falls on. The wheelbase is strikingly long and the body work cuts smooth graceful lines with splashes of chrome down the sides, along the rockers, and trimming out the wheel wells. they look particularly good in their fresh coat of factory correct, Pewter Firemist paint. The Black vinyl roof is reminiscent of the look of the old carriage style, and the rear fender skirts add to the solid look of the car. Perched proudly on the front of that gloriously long hood is a Cadillac coat of arms. Below it is a rectangular chrome grill flanked by quad headlights and upright marker lights. It is all underlined by a substantial chrome bumper that wraps around the side of the fenders. The back is simply elegant with a trunk that turns down low to meet the bumper for easy loading flanked by stylized taillights dressed in chrome. Open the door and you will be welcomed into the lap of luxury. The molded door panel has a woodgrain inset with a long door pull for easy closing. The switches for the power windows and locks are at your fingertips along with another unique feature in the controls for the wipers mounted there too. The split bench seat is power operated and dressed in leather with pleated lowers and button tufted uppers and a fold down armrest in the center. A three spoke steering wheel has another Cadillac crest in the center and is mounted on a tilt column. The dash behind it looks great in a woodgrain finish with a long rectangular speedometer on top and the controls mounted along the bottom. A nice feature is that the climate control system has been updated to R134 for the A/C refrigerant. Your back-seat passengers will ride in the lap of luxury too with even more leg room than usual because there is no big tunnel running down the center of the floor. That's because this is a front wheel drive luxury car. Open the hood and you will find a freshly rebuilt Cadillac 500 cubic inch motor nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. It remains completely stock with a flat black air cleaner sitting on top of a Rochester Quadra-Jet carburetor. The stock intake and cylinder heads handle things from there and were designed to provide plenty of smooth power to move this big car down the road in style. The valve covers look good in blue and of course all the belts and hoses were replaced with the engine build. Being a front wheel drive car has several advantages. It creates more room in the interior as well as the trunk. And while it was pretty ground breaking at the time, these days, everyone knows front wheel drive is better in the snow. Power steering and power front disc brakes provide good handling and control and 235/75R15 white wall tires are mounted on steel wheels with Cadillac hub caps. Cadillac luxury with Eldorado style. Come on down and see what it's like for yourself. We think you will be impressed.
