It seems like a bit of an injustice to refer to a classic that's so packed with vintage style as this 1983 Cadillac Coupe DeVille Restomod as a "sleeper", but the term nevertheless applies. This Caddy has all the right boxes checked - outstanding curb appeal, an ultra-clean interior and a monster of a powerplant beneath the hood that's as fortified as they come and offers otherworldly, rubber liquifying power. This car's excellence is borne out by loads of accolades... - it's rumbled away with plenty of trophy hardware while waging war against some serious car show competition. The curb appeal of this DeVille is absolutely pegged, as it's draped in a yellow paint that offers an outstanding shine and features exterior alignment that's as precise as can be, with nice, even gaps surrounding all body panels and long stretches of side trim that remain level as a table top as they transition from fender to door to rear quarter panel. The signature vinyl top was refurbished a while back and is in top form, and every bit of chrome - from the beefy front bumper and geometric front grille back to the taillight casings at the end of the compact, refined tailfins in back - is at its best. Inside the cabin, the velour interior is looking strong and has been a beneficiary of this Cadillac's consistent good care. It's yet to have received any assistance from an upholstery shop and remains in almost entirely stock configuration - the small tachometer now mounted on the A pillar being one of the only exceptions. The split bench front seat still carries plenty of padding for comfort and features racing seat belts that can easily be converted back to stock if you so choose. Up front, the dash area is in great shape, with still fresh woodgrain accents and an assortment of clear, functional gauges in the instrument cluster. The original AM/FM/Cassette stereo still provides a period-appropriate audio experience and the air conditioning blows cold and strong to handle even the warmest of weather. You can search high and low and not find a car occupying nearly any niche that's as thoroughly fortified for both performance and handling as this one. Because it's cloaked by a nicely finished yet largely original-looking exterior, fellow motorists won't have any idea of what's lurking beneath the hood, but if they did, they certainly wouldn't want to mess with this Caddy. It's propelled by a fuel injected 383 cubic inch V8 that's been bored .030 over and wears aftermarket ported and polished L98 heads, forged pistons, a performance cam, and a host of other upgrades, including a nitrous system to put its accelerative abilities over the top. The engine breathes into a pair of Hedman headers leading out to a Flowmaster dual exhaust and pairs with a 4-speed automatic 700r4 transmission with overdrive that's been fortified to handle over the top power and features a B&M shift kit. There are only about 2000 miles on this absolutely stellar drivetrain, so it's in top form and ready to bring a smile to your face for quite some time to come. Adjustable upper control arms, Bell Tech dropped spindles and new tie rods, ball joints and idler arm, equip this exceptionally configured DeVille with a smooth ride and excellent handling as it smokes the asphalt on a set of 17" five spoke, deep dish American Racing Torq Thrust wheels wearing Pirelli Scorpion tires. Some serious planning and execution went into making this 1983 Cadillac DeVille Restomod an absolutely standout ride and its celestial curb appeal and world class performance bear proof that it was a job well done.
