1960 Corvette Survivor Barn Find Black Plate California Car

This is my 1960 Corvette. It is a remarkably complete and solid car. I purchased it years ago with the intention of restoring it. At this point it appears that I am not going to get around to it so I have decided to let it go. I am a car guy but I am by no means a Corvette expert. Here is what I can tell you:

  • Extremely solid and complete California black plate car - last registration appears to be 1984
  • The engine does not appear to be original to the car. I ran the block casting number (3858174) and it looks like it is a 327 possibly from a mid-60s Corvette. It has an "F" in the numbers on the stamp pad which I understand to mean that it is a "Flint" block. All of this is based on information found on the web so take it for what it's worth.
  • There are what look like speedometer-type cables that run up the inner fenders on both sides that aren't currently hooked up to anything. Anybody know what they are? I wondered if there were any "tells" that would indicate if it was originally a fuel injected car.
  • 3-speed manual transmission
  • California black plates, bumperettes, 7-fin Corvette valve covers, and 4 hubcaps were in the trunk when I purchased the car (and are still present)
  • I have a 1984 registration document that indicates the included black plates are original to the car.
  • The hubcaps are remarkably nice. I only saw some curb rash on one of them.
  • It appears the engine, parts of the interior, and the wheels were all painted a matching blue at some point in the cars life.
  • It has a sweet metalflake steering wheel (haha). It did not come with the original steering wheel.
  • It has always been garaged since I've owned it and I was told it sat in a garage in California since the mid-80s before I purchased it
  • I have never tried to start it and I don't know if the engine turns over or not.
  • The brakes don't work although the e-brake does seem to.
  • I have not tried to take the top off. I don't know if it also has the convertible top or not. If I can find someone to help me I will try to take the hardtop off and see if the convertible top is present or not.
  • The chrome is in extremely good condition. I polished up one of the rear bumpers a little and was shocked at how nice it came up. I noticed that there is minor pitting on some of the chrome in the front and elsewhere.
  • The stainless is also remarkably nice with some pieces damaged or missing on the passenger side as visible in the photos.
  • The bottom of the cars is ultra-solid. This car would be stunning restored. It's so much better to start with a solid car like this than one from a climate where all the metal would be pitted.
  • There is some minor damage to the body - please see the photos
  • Someone cut open the fake vents / scoops on either side of the grill
  • Someone welded cut-outs into the exhaust system

I have thought a lot about how to conduct this auction. Here is my plan:

  • There is NO RESERVE
  • There is NO BUY-IT-NOW
  • My lowest price is the best bid
  • My intent is to let the auction run its course
  • Please don't ask about these items - it will save us both time.
