I need to mention that the paint is old and peeling off currently due to the car being exposed to the outdoor weather elements as shown on pictures and will need a fresh paint job and body work on rusted areas such as rocker panels, door bottoms and trunk floor. These pictures show the actual condition of the car and the peeling paint can be seen mainly on the top areas such as the top, hood and trunk lid where the sun hits it the most.
I could have it repainted, but I prefer to let the buyer choose another color scheme if desired. I particularly like this color because it really shows off a great metallic green during a sunny day and on a sunless-shady day or at night it changes to a deep black that makes it look very elegant and with a mysterious stance. The car also needs a few details to be fixed such as mileage speedometer, wiper, radio and other cosmetic details.
I have had this car since 2000 and the previous owner kept it in his garage for another 16 years. The chrome and the stainless steel moldings are in great condition as you can see in the pictures. Please take the time to look closely at the pictures, so you can see the imperfections such as rust on the bottom areas of the doors, rocker panels and the trunk floor. These rusted areas will need to be addressed if you plan to restore it.
I am selling this car because I need to help my only son to pay for his college expenses. I love this car and have enjoyed it for all these years and hopefully it will be bought by someone who will appreciate it and make improvements for a unique, beautiful piece of American history that will definitively increase in value with time.
The car can be driven and enjoyed as is without mechanical issues and it is a head-turner the condition it is at the moment. It has current tags and inspection sticker and can be driven anywhere. I have driven it short distances on occasional times for a memorable cruise with my wife for a weekend to a car show in Ruidoso, New Mexico or to Pecos, Texas to visit relatives and we always have a good time because people stare at you giving you high thumbs and I will surely miss that.
I removed the original front bench seat and adapted a pair of comfortable bucket seats from a Camaro, simply because I enjoyed the way the bucket seat wraps around your body and the high headrest gives you a great sporty feeling and enjoy the cool breeze when you roll all the windows down. I always wanted to fly a F-16 fighter jet, but this is the closest I got to it.
The motor is clean, strong and responsive for a fresh rush of adrenaline if you like to step on it. The engine has about 10,000 miles in it since rebuilt back in 2005 and the car has not been driven too much and only used once in a while. I personally like old cars, but I love for them to respond fast. I can make this car peel out on first, second and third gears when I want to show off. This is not your traditional Grandpa's car, although you can convert it back to the way it was originally (six cylinder and three on the column) if that is what you like...
I will include original steering wheel and front bench seat that matches the rest of the interior and the back seat.
Originally purchased in October 1957 from a local car dealer called "International Transports" on Yandell Street (no longer in business). It has been always a local car (El Paso, Texas).
