Description

** NO RESERVE **

1973 Camaro Z28 Project

This Camaro is in need of a complete restoration. While it is in rough condition it seems to be much better than a lot of the stuff that shows up on ebay. These are getting harder to find in any condition and values seem to be climbing.

Body/Subframe

  • Body has rust in typical areas but seems well worth restoring
  • Floor pans look pretty decent
  • Subframe looks solid
  • Quarters and drop-offs are rusty
  • Front fenders have rust in the bottoms
  • Rear valance is rusty
  • Inner front fender extension under battery area is rusty
  • Trunk pan looks pretty decent - I don't see rust thru; some areas have what looks like typical spatter paint and there are some areas with what appears to be surface rust (see photo); I would say the decision on whether or not to replace the trunk pan depends on how perfect you want the finished product to be
  • Car appears to have been repainted a darker brown with original Light Copper color showing on inside of trunk lid, door jams, etc.
  • An aftermarket sunroof was poorly installed at some point during the car's lifetime (replacement roof panels are available)
  • The hood that comes with the car is from a late 70s early 80s Camaro with the non-functional NACA style duct - cool looking but not original if that matters to you; look for the hood in the background in some of the photos
  • Actual mileage is unknown
  • Front disc brakes
  • Front anti-roll bar
  • Rear anti-roll bar
  • The underside of the car is undercoated; I can't tell if it is original or added; it does appear to have been on the car a long time
  • 3-piece rear spoiler

Trim Tag

  • I wondered about the screws but saw a reference online that said that in 1973 early production cars had rivets but that at some point during the year they switched over to screws
  • Interior Trim Code 778 = Saddle Vinyl
  • Trim Code A51 = Bucket Seats
  • Body Color Code 60 = Light Copper
  • Exterior Trim Code Z28 = Z28
  • Trim Code YF8 = Black Stripes

Engine/Transmission

  • None

Interior

  • Factory Tachometer
  • All of the seats are included; they have seat covers installed over what appears to be the original vinyl; the front seats are visible in the background of one of the photos
  • Door panels are present but rough
  • Dash is gooey; some of the plastics used on these old cars do not age well
  • Tilt steering column
  • Aftermarket steering wheel
  • I removed and discarded the worn-out carpet to assess the condition of the floor pans

Other Parts:

  • This auction includes some additional parts that came with the car when I purchased it
  • Left and right partial quarters
  • Outer wheel tubs
  • Left and right drop-offs
  • I do not know how complete the car is parts wise; other parts will inevitably be needed to make this into a running driving car; please refer to the photos

About this Auction:

  • There is NO RESERVE
  • There is NO BUY-IT-NOW
  • My bottom line is the highest bid when the auction ends

This is an old car that has been repainted. The only way to know with certainty what repairs will ultimately be required is to completely disassemble the car and have it media blasted. The description in this listing is based on what I can see and the condition is described to the best of my ability.
