Looking like a paramilitary vehicle built for suburban warfare, this awesome 1986 Chevrolet K5 Blazer M1009 is the ideal choice for just about any adventure. With diesel power, tough matte black bodywork, and plenty of creature comforts, it's going to get attention everywhere it goes. The bodywork was recently refinished in matte black and anything that wasn't painted was either covered in spray-on bedliner material or powdercoated black. Even the grille, the door handles, the mirrors, and other formerly shiny stuff has been dipped in black to give this Blazer one heck of an attitude. Industrial-strength bumpers were added fore and aft (yes, they're black, too), with the front bumper housing a winch, LED driving lights, and a brush guard, while out back there's an external spare tire mount and a cage for your jerry cans. Tow rings mean it's serious about going into the brush and tubular step plates make it easy to climb up into the tall 4x4. Custom LED headlights and a giant off-road jack strapped to the front bumper add to the ready-for-anything look yet there's no real evidence that this truck has done anything more strenuous than go to the grocery store. It's seriously clean! With bright LED lighting, the interior shows quite well. Freshly upholstered high-back buckets are a good place to spend some time and there's a full-sized back seat for some friends (or co-conspirators, depending on what you're doing with this truck). The factory gauges, steering wheel, and center console mean it's easy to get comfortable behind the wheel and the factory A/C has recently been upgraded with modern hardware. The entire tub was finished with spray-on bedliner before it was insulated and the interior was installed, so it feels solid and quiet inside; a good idea with the diesel up front. Extra switches are on the center console and their functions are clearly labeled, so you can put them to work immediately, and the AM/FM/CD stereo has waterproof speakers, so there's one more thing you don't have to worry about. There's a heavy-duty roll bar that offers better protection than the original setup, top on or top off, and the carpeted rear cargo bay is big enough for all the gear you'll need for the next infiltration mission.GM's rugged, reliable, and torquey 6.2 liter diesel V8 is a great choice in the Blazer, getting the big truck moving without a lot of effort and never getting tired when slogging through the rough stuff. Given it's durability, it shouldn't be a surprise that it has never required a major rebuild, although it has been conscientiously serviced. You'll need to master the starting procedure since it still uses glow plugs, but you'll also discover that as long as this engine has fuel and air, it'll run, making it incredibly reliable. The heavy-duty TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and two-speed transfer case feed heavy-duty -ton axles and they've added dual exhaust so it has an intimidating voice. The axles have been fully serviced and hang on fresh shocks and you'll note that most of the stuff under the truck has been painted matte black as well, including the gas tank. Heavy-duty mil-spec wheels look butch and carry giant off road tires that will climb over boulders the size of beach balls without a scratch. This is one bad Blazer that should satisfy anyone's urge to have an adventure. Heck, just driving it to work should make you feel like Rambo, and if you're a serious off-roader, you'll appreciate its upgraded capabilities. Call today!
