1973 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Type LT
Description
1973 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Type LT in excellent condition. Many hours and dollars have been spent on this car. The body is very straight, the paint lays very nice and flat with a beautiful shine (trim tag shows 42 42 dark green paint code). The black stripes have been cleared over, the chrome is in great shape as well as the emblems (some show some minor aging). The 15" wheels are in excellent condition and the car sits very nicely on almost new 235/60R15 BFG Radial T/A tires all the way around.
The interior is correct, in great condition and appears to be very original (trim tag shows773 black vinyl/LT). The black bucket seats are in great shape (one very small blemish in drivers seat) and are very comfortable, the headliner is excellent, the dash is in great condition, even the radio appears to be original. Overall the interior is in great condition. The horn works, wipers work, defrost works, directionals and marker lights all work as well as the backup lights. The factory speedometer and tachometer work as well as the fuel and temperature gauges. The amp meter and clock do not work.
Under the hood is the believed to be original 350ci engine. This engine runs great and has been slightly warmed over with an Edelbrock aluminum intake, Holley carb and headers. The additional power makes this car a blast to drive yet it still has excellent manners. Power steering and power brakes work and feel excellent (disc on the front). Exhaust exits through a stock style muffler and has a nice tone. The transmission is the original numbers matching TH400 automatic, it shifts as it should with no issues. The rear end is the beleived to be orignial 10 bolt date code December 5, 1972, the code on the axle tube shows 3.73 gears with a GM Positraction carrier. There are no major leaks throughout the drivetrain, there is some normal seepage (very typical) and nothing to be concerned with.
The engine bay is clean, much of it appears original. The underside of the hood is finished off in gloss black, engine block paint shows some wear. The entire trunk area is in great condition. The underside of the car is in excellent condition (must see) with no repairs needed or done that I can see, even the rear frame rails are in great condition - very impressive.
Overall this is a beautiful Z28 Type LT that is hard to find in this condition and this original. The mileage (68,XXX) is believed to be original but I cannot 100% prove this. The partial VIN# on the engine is 13N116460 and the VIN# on the car is 13N116461 which is why the engine is believed to be original. It is my understanding that it was not uncommon in that era for the engine VIN# to be off by a digit or two yet still be the original born with engine, but I am not an expert on this. This Camarohas been gone through mechanically and is sorted out, it is a joy to drive and I have a clean West Virginia title for it. If there is a specific picture that you would like please let me know and I will send it as soon as I can. There may be some minor nicks/road wear that I have missed as this car has been and still is being driven.
