Description

'49 Chevy Fleetline.

I have not had this car very long, bought it on impulse, but found something else I want. (never heard that before right?) Anyway here is what I can tell you about it. Runs, drives and stops as you would expect a 1949 model too. Engine is a 1954 model 235 that starts right up and runs very smooth. Does smoke just a little. ( I think they all do don't they?) Steering and suspension are original and as tight as you could ask for. Still has all wheel drum brakes but has added power brake booster. Brake system works well. Here is the cool part, It has a 5 speed overdrive transmission out of an S-10. Shifts smooth with new clutch and makes the car a pleasure to drive even on the highway. It also has the rear end out of the same S-10, so no weird drive shaft issues. It has a converter box for the speedometer to make it work with the 5 speed. It is not accurate but I have the owners manual so maybe it can be calibrated. I have not really messed with it. Head, tail and brake lights work fine. Never had turn signals. (arm signal out the window, anybody remember how that works?) The windshield wipers do not work.

Interior is usable as is but nowhere close to show, or professional work. I was told the seats came out of a 2000 Cadillac. It has insulation in the roof but no headliner at all. Carpet does look nice and has insulation under it but everything elsewould needsome work to be nice. That said it is very usable as is. The windshield is cloudy and so are the side windows but not as bad, they all role up and down fine. The back glass is in great shape.

Ok here is the what you've been waiting for, the body. The car is extremely straight, the doors, hood and trunk line up very well. As for rust, The frame appears to me to be rust free. I can not see any rust issues in the frame or previous accident damage. The trunk floor has some very small rust holes, maybe 4-5, that are the size of dimes maybe. The passenger floor has 3-4 holes you can stick your finger thru, and the drivers floor has about a 2 foot square patch that looks just laid over the cut out hole. The body has a little rust showing below the drivers door, and what looks like some bondo that is probable rust repair around the rear wheel wells.Overall I would say this car is very straight and solid considering the year. The paint is faded and not near as shiny as it appears in some of the pics.

Overall this is a very cool car that would be easy to restore, customize or just drive it around as is. That's what I have been doing and it gets thumbs up everywhere you go. Really neat, fun old car that's a blast to drive.

So here is the auction deal. If you win the auction there is no deposit. I want you to come and lookthe car over, drive it. I want you to be happy with the car and I have tried to describe it as accurately as I can.Shipping is your responsibility. I wouldn't know how to ship a car anyway, but I will assist any way I can.

I took the car on a 200 plus mile rod run thru Western Oklahoma in September and she ran fine. No issues at all.
