Description
Selling a 1949 Chevrolet Fleetline Deluxe 2 dr. coupe that I purchased over the winter from a farm in Iowa. Has been upgraded to a235 Chevrolet engine from a 60's model
. Usually the stock 216 engines are swapped out for 235's due to the fact that it's a more reliable drivetrain and you can add a little more performance upgrades. Still has the 3 spd manual transmission on the steering column, which shifts smoothly through all the gears. The engine was just tuned up with all new wires, plugs, points, fresh oil etc.No drivetrain issues, less than 5 miles on tune up.All safety equipment like brakes, emergency brake, lights, speedometer, oil/gas gauge, and horn operate as they should.
Runs strong and sounds good through the dual exhaust (very quiet not a loud rumble). Please remember that it's a 69 year old car; so it might squeak and creak while driving. Definitely NOT a swapped frame hot rod. Just an Old School ride with a little attitude.
VIN # 3GKF45580 (decoded according to various internet sources):
3 = Factory build plant of St. Louis MissouriGK = Fleetline seriesF = Build month of February45580 = Production sequence
Cowl tag(decoded according to various internet sources):
Style No: 49-1007 Paint No: 385 Body No: S1100 Trim No:15849 = Year Mayland Black S = St. Louis MI Tan striped Cloth Int.10 = GM07 = Fleetline
The exterior black paint is older and has chips, dings, paint pops, dents, etc. The paint is driver quality
definitely NOT a show car and the price reflects it!Some areas have very small bondo crack spots. No rust through holes on the body or undercarriage. The floor pans are solid. You can drive it as is all summer season then tear it down in the winter if you want to invest in a complete professional paint job.
The upholstery is presentable and clean. The dash, which is a tan/gold color, is really nice and maintains all of the original factory components. The headliner has some staining.
All the windows are intact and in working condition.
The trunk is clean, no rot or holes, has older cardboard panels.
The tires are in good condition with a lot of cruising tread still left. The tires have been on the car for the last 3 months without any slow leaks.Stock 5 lug rims
with factory style hubcaps that show dings, dents etc.
I lowered the car all around 3 inches with a new front end shock/spring kit and 3 inch lowering blocks in the rear. It can all be unbolted if you want the factory look. I also have several old school spotlights (Appleton and a Unity) and a Sireno siren that come with the car in case you want to have them installed. Car obviously comes with the skirts and visor!
Again, it's a nice cruiser that gets attention and runs good.Look around, Fleetline coupes are getting harder to find. There are some really nice custom Fleetlines out here that come with a custom price. Drive the hell out of this car right now and custom paint it when you have the money for less than half the costs!
