Description

Outstanding 1931 Chevrolet AE Independence RS 2/4 passengerCabriolet. This car has lots of great original accessories including side mounted spares, rumble seat, grill stone guard, accessory lights and dual horns.
This is an incredibly original and correct car with a brand new and beautiful Labaron-Bonney interior. It is totally rust free and has not had any accidents. It has very old but not original lacquer paint with lots of flaking and checking. It is a nice solid driver that can be driven comfortably. Details:
Exterior: The exterior has all original trim and an older repaint. The doors fit well and the wood is excellent. The doors close well with a small gap on the passenger side and no gap on the drivers side. The glass is all original and very good. The trim around the window glass is probably the worst part of the car with pitting very evident. I've posted a picture of it. The car has a stone guard on the grill and its original top with lots of water stains. It is solid with no tears. The factory rumble seat opens easily and closes with good fit. The trim in the rumble seat area matches the rest of the car both in quality and color having been done with the rest of the interior. An original trunk completes the picture for a very attractive exterior. The tires appear to be almost new with no wear or drying at all.
The interior is excellent with working gauges and controls. The seat material is brand new and thegaugesand switches are all very nice and functional. The miles arebelievedto be original. The door panels and floor rubber is also excellent.
Under the hood is the original 6-cylinder engine (number 2774445) which runs smoothly. The engine bay is clean but has not been detailed for show purposes and old stains and unpainted metal on the manifolds is evident. The car has a brand new battery.
The underside is solid original. At some point, someone sprayed it in a successful effort to prevent rust and corrosion. You can see the condition of the underside in the photos.
Known history: I have a registration dated 1970 and someownershippaperwork since. There is no service history with the car.
The car is in storage in Bridgeport, CT. It is available for inspections for the duration of this auction. I've set this to be a ten-day auction because I will not be available to show the car much at all at the end of this week. Ipurchasedseveral cars out of a respected local collection and these photos were taken literally moments after I unloadedthemfrom the truck. I had not cleaned the car at all when taking these pictures.
