And while we love ANY Corvette no matter what the owner's intentions, we can definitely understand that mindset. For purists, the only way to fully appreciate a vintage car is to experience it as it was originally designed. And that's why we're happy to see classics like this Fathom Green C3 continue to roll through our showroom. Carefully restored for NCRS competition, and presently churning a top-option L89/4-speed drivetrain, this first class drop-top is the kind of car that you simply buy, maintain and build equity in. BODYWORK/TRIM

Of the many reasons to love the third generation of America's sports car, style is certainly high on the list. As one of the most aggressive designs to ever breach GM Tech Center doors, the C3 set the standard for the official Corvette shape. Take a close look at the body of this striking Stingray and you'll find aesthetics that are completely accurate to how the car left St. Louis's storied assembly lines. Thanks to a 3-year, body-off restoration, that clean fuselage features even gaps which suggest a sharp eye toward precision. Correct metallic paint reflects a glossy finish under standard Black vinyl and an array of polished brightwork. And, while many collectors think Rally Red is the quintessential Corvette pigment, we think you'll agree that nothing comes close to a well-done Fathom roadster!

ENGINE

Beneath the sculpted hood you'll find a correct, 427 cubic inch big block that hangs a 3963512 casting number and June (F) 14th (14) 1969 (9) casting date behind a familiar Tonawanda (T) assembly stamp. Straight from the factory, GM's top-option L89 (LP) V8 utilized high performance internals to twist stout 11 to 1 compression into an even 435 horsepower! At the peak of the pavement-scorching mill, a polished and decaled air cleaner swirls wind in to a correct Winters intake by way of correct Holley carburetors. At the sides of that intake, correct Winters heads hang stamped and polished valve covers over cast iron exhaust manifolds. And at the back of those heads, chrome-capped ignition sequences spark through sleeved plug wires. When fired, the infamous 427 rumbles like an old school stoplight slayer. Its ancillary components are top notch in every way, with GM-branded hoses, a rust-free master cylinder and a correct Harrison expansion tank accompanying reproduction tower clamps, a fresh radiator and a rebuilt alternator. And bright Chevy Orange engine skin is seated in a clean, Satin Black frame.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Peer under this low-slung roadster and you'll find a factory chassis that's straight, solid and ready to roll. The car's hot big block twists torque through a correct Muncie 4-speed, which hangs a 1969 (9) Muncie (P) assembled on September (P) 13th, (13) 1968 build stamp behind a correct 3925660 casting number. That transmission spins a correct, "FB" stamped differential. Beneath that drivetrain, a rebuilt F41 Sport Suspension combines optional power steering with tight turns and increased grip. At the corners of the car, 4-wheel power disc brakes ensure quick, drama-free stops. Aluminized down-pipes shuttle spent gases through rowdy side pipes. And all that fully sorted hardware rolls on handsome Rally Wheels, which spin F70-15 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sport redlines around polished trim rings and turbine center caps.

INTERIOR

Slip in to this Stingray's correct Black interior and settle on one of its firm vinyl buckets. A familiar dash founds an array of black-trimmed telemetry above a correct Delco AM/FM radio. At the base of that dash, a tapered console frames a factory shifter. Below that console, translucent floor mats protect like-new carpet. At the edges of that carpet, weather-free door panels hang simple stainless hardware in front of factory power windows. In front of the driver, a tilting and telescoping column spins a sporty steering wheel. And behind the passengers, a small storage compartment reserves enough room for a pair of car show chairs.
