It seems wholly appropriate that we list this impressive Corvette on the heels of celebrating America's independence. Here in the states, we pride ourselves on having purpose and making a statement. And it's hard to argue that this Sting Ray, mixing a tri-power 427/4-speed drivetrain with striking red and black aesthetics, is anything but a car with great purpose and even greater affirmations. Whether you're in the market for one of the coolest Corvettes ever made, or just an outstanding muscle car, here's a highly exclusive rarity that'll star at the show and leave plenty of stripes on the pavement!

BODYWORK/TRIM

Accenting a familiar coat of GM code 974 Rally Red with a glossy black Stinger Stripe, this handsome coupe is the kind of classic you can comfortably cruise to the big shows. That said, the car was certainly built to be displayed. And one look at our high definition photos reveals top-notch aesthetics that are the product of a through and detailed restoration. We all know fiberglass can be a challenge to restore, and this Chevy has all the signs of an expert job including great panel alignment, good gaps, and no signs of cracks or stress marks in the usual places. That high quality work is sealed in glossy 2-stage, which, as we all know, will keep its integrity much longer than original single-stage. And overall, this clean C2 is a fitting tribute to the most collectible era of Corvette motoring.

Thanks to a renewed dedication to motorsports, and heavy influence from the original Mako Shark concept, the second generation of America's sports car presents an aggressive, hard-edged appearance. At the front of this classic, bullet-style marker lights, show worthy bumpers and a vivid cross-flag emblem cage a broad, stainless-trimmed grille. Behind that grille, an aggressive Stinger Hood props sinister "427" emblems in front of chip-free glass that's traced in straight stainless and cleared by mirrored wipers. At the sides of that hood, small door handles and a classy mirror float above simple heat extractors, black-trimmed rocker guards and traditional side pipes. And at the back of the car, monochromatic tail lamps split the difference between a chrome-trimmed fuel filler, a correct "Corvette STING RAY" emblem, a chrome-trimmed tag bracket and two more show worthy bumpers.

ENGINE

Tilt this Chevy's hood and you'll find a 435 horsepower, 427 cubic inch big block that frames a correct "JE" suffix stamp and matching partial VIN in a '67-exclusive 3904351 casting number and April (D) 6th (6), 1967 (7) casting date. At the top of the Chevy Orange mill, correct Holley carburetors ride between a chrome, correctly decaled air cleaner and bright stainless fluid lines. Below those carbs, a correct Winters intake funnels a perfect air/fuel mixture in to tough, cast iron heads, which are capped by steel, color-keyed valve covers. When the juice hits the cylinders, reliable, chrome-capped ignition sparks fresh, stainless-sleeved wires while a stock cam and rotating assembly push spent gases through factory exhaust manifolds. Cooling for that fire is provided by a beefy radiator, which hangs in front of pliable GM hoses and reproduction tower clamps. And, aesthetically, this Chevy's tidy engine compartment is exceptionally well done, framing items like a correct alternator, a correct voltage regulator and a correct master cylinder in clean, Satin Black surfacing.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Not surprisingly, someone spent a lot of time carefully restoring the bottom of this exclusive Vette. And, given that the car has essentially been a weekend cruiser since it rolled out of the shop, everything is clean, fresh and virtually weather-free. Behind the awesome big block, a correct Muncie 4-speed sports a familiar 3885010 casting number, a Muncie (P) assembled on May (E) 8th (08), 1967 (7) build stamp, and a matching partial VIN. That tough transmission twists a factory-correct rear end that's fitted with correct, 3.70 gears. That drivetrain rolls on a fully rebuilt F41 Sport Suspension, which mixes old school manual steering with requisite disc brakes. And at the corners, satin-finished knock-off-style wheels spin 7.75-15 Firestone Deluxe Champion redlines around stainless, red-trimmed bowtie center caps.

INTERIOR

Crack this C2's cockpit and you'll find a standard Black interior that appears to have been completely replaced during the car's extensive rebirth. Seating comes courtesy of correct vinyl thrones, which are anchored between fresh lap belts and bright stainless trim. From the driver's perch, a traditional clock and Delco AM/FM radio ride between rebuilt gauges and an aluminum-trimmed glove box. Below that dash, like-new carpet balances Chevrolet-branded floor mats at the sides of a thin console and fully functional shifter. Above those mats, chrome-trimmed door panels hang monochromatic accents between small armrests and traditional handles. In front of the driver, a wood-rimmed steering wheel spins thin satin spokes around a brilliant cross-flag emblem. And behind the passengers, a fully carpeted storage compartment provides a reasonable amount of cargo space.
