With restored Corvette roadsters being six-figure collectables in factory-correct condition, it takes quite a bit of nerve to pull the gloves off and 'frankenstein' a killer pro-tourer. But, as you'll see, the results are definitely worth the six figures it required to finish this amazing car, as few C2s possess its combination of sheer performance and classic style. Ready for a first class build that combines everything great about the storied Sting Ray with technology that's more akin to a modern Z06? Here it is!

BODYWORK/TRIM

Sealed in glossy Metallic Black 2-stage, this slick Corvette is the beneficiary of an extensive, ground-up restoration that appears to be very fresh. In addition to better-than-factory alignment, the car's body features super sinuous appeal thanks to custom fenders and quarters that employ much more flare than stock. That body's combination of form, fit and flash was reinforced by fully shaved emblems and high-gloss clear which, naturally, has been buffed to a wet-looking shine. And today, this striking Sting Ray rolls as one of the coolest classics in our 274 car showroom!

What's the point of flaring the fenders of an already sculpted classic unless you REALLY emphasize the car's unique athletic demeanor? I mean, we all know that Corvettes with flared fenders are awesome cars! But therein lies the issue: the hobby already has tons of awesome classics. So, why not go all out and try something a bit different? That was probably the main line of thinking behind this Chevy's striking aesthetics. At the front of the car, a deleted bumper makes way for a custom nose-clip, which centers a large billet grille between a flat header, frenched parking lamps and a molded chin spoiler. Above that clip, a C3-style hood traces an LT-1-style stripe in front of bright wipers, stainless-trimmed glass and weather-free canvas. Below that glass, '67-style heat extractors lead chrome door handles, a trademark bowtie mirror and massaged rocker guards. And at the back of the car, an ornate fuel filler caps correct 'razor blade' bumpers, '67-style taillights and polished stainless exhaust outlets.

ENGINE

Believe it or not, "unique athletic demeanor" might be a bit of an understatement for this Chevy. Tilt the car's lightweight hood and you'll find a clean, 502 cubic inch big block that's been built, polished and tweaked to major horsepower and earth-moving torque! A rich mixture of oxygen and fuel is supplied by a big Demon 4-barrel, which floats between polished fluid lines and a polished K&N X-Stream air filter. That carb rides on a polished aluminum intake, which is mated to a color-keyed block via bowtie-branded heads. Those heads hang polished and milled valve covers between polished and etched breathers and coated long-tube headers. At the back of those tubes, a color-keyed distributor bounces spark between a color-keyed coil, adjustable MSD ignition and high quality Taylor plug wires. In front of those wires, a polished serpentine drive spins a polished Edelbrock water pump between a polished alternator, a modern AC compressor and modern power steering. That pump feeds a shrouded aluminum radiator that's parked in front of polished water tubes and a polished flex fan. And all that first class hardware is detailed with items like polished fluid reservoirs, a polished master cylinder and chrome dipsticks.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

We've said it time and time again, and the old adage still proves true. A pro-tourer simply isn't an authentic pro-tourer unless its significant power enhancements are augmented by significant chassis upgrades. That's the only way 100% of the car's performance potential will ever be realized. Accordingly, this spry Vette's smooth, Satin Black floors frame a massaged suspension that's been augmented with a color-keyed composite mono-leaf, custom-fabricated control arms and modern coil-over-shocks. At the center of that skeleton, a color-keyed Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed makes good use of a factory-style differential. Turns come courtesy of factory-style power steering. Smooth and solid stops are provided by for polished calipers, which clamp four vented discs. Exhaust rumbles through ceramic-coated pipes and ceramic-coated Flowmaster dual-chamber mufflers. Power flows through polished, 17-inch blades, which spin 245/45 Mickey Thompson Street Comps in front of 295/45 Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials. And everything from this Corvette's finned transmission pan and polished flywheel cover to its stainless fluid lines and proven Mallory fuel pump, is expertly finished, superbly detailed and ready for action.

INTERIOR

Pop the doors and you'll find a tweaked ultraleather interior that mixes the best aspects of modern convenience with the best attributes of vintage style. Front and center, plush, 2-tone buckets support standard lap belts. In front of those seats, a striking chrome and black dash hangs red-trimmed Auto Meter Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite telemetry beside a direct-fit Secret Audio stereo. At the edges of that dash, custom, chrome-trimmed door panels splash color-keyed accents amid billet accessory handles. At the bottom of those panels, premium carpet anchors "CORVETTE" branded floor mats beneath big kick speakers and a custom console that frames a modern, color-keyed shifter. In front of the driver, a polished and half-wrapped steering wheel spins a color-keyed rim around a tilting Flaming River column. And behind the passengers, a small storage area features enough room for a weekend getaway.
