Description

This is my '68 convertible Corvette. It has been totally frame off restored. It is an "early 68", built on January 24th 1968. It was special ordered with the optional 350 HP L79 327ci engine and the special heavy duty 4-speed transmission and a 3.70:1 gear ration rear end.It has 78,566 original miles on it and has been driven approximately 4000 miles since its restoration. It is in pristine condition. I have all the receipts from the restoration along with a big scrape book of photos from before and during the restoration. The restoration was expertly done and very thorough and meticulous and very well documented. It has the original all numbers matching engine, transmission and rear end. It has the original mechanical tach drive distributor with an upgraded electronic ignition module. It has had hardened valve seats put in to allow unleaded fuel to be used. The brake system has been upgraded with stainless steel brake lines and stainless steel lined calipers. It comes with both the original black vinyl covered hard top which is in superb condition, and a new black soft top. Most all the hardware on the car has been replaced with absolutely correct reproduction pieces. It HAS HAD a color change. It was originally a Maroon car. It has been changed to 2011 Corvette Torch Red. It has power steering and AM/FM factory wonder bar radio. It is an absolute joy to drive. I can't say enough good about this Corvette. It is extremely rare to find one like this with the L79 package in this condition and low milage. I have seen these cars sell for very high prices. I saw one sell for $80K and one sell for $90K on Barrett Jackson about 3 years ago. My car looks better than they did because of the color. As I said, superb condition with the engine, transmission and rear end rebuilt during the restoration. The interior is completely original except for replacement carpet. All the rest of the interior is totally original and in super condition. The steering wheel is a new replacement but the car comes with the original faux wood grain steering wheel as well.I put in a reproduction steering wheel from a '69 corvette to preserve the original because it is rare and in unusually good condition.I am a private seller and can be contacted by serious inquirers at 865 621-5374. The car is in East Tennessee. Shipping is not provided but I can work with any carrier you would want to use, or you can drive it home. Clear Tennessee title. I am the third owner. The original owner bought the car new in New York. He put 76,400 miles on it and stored the car in 1986 and sold it to his good friend who was with him when he ordered it new. The second owner, his friend, restored the car in 2002/2003 and sold it to me. I put about 4,000 miles on it since it was restored. You WILL be impressed with this car if you see it. I bought it just by looking at photos of it and had it shipped from New York to Tennessee in 2014. I have not been disappointed and neither will you!The car will come with both tops, the original steering wheel plus the one pictured, a custom fit soft cover, original brochure, original owners manual, it's original New York license plate, storage cover for hard top, and lifting harness for easy install of hard top. It has a new Optima battery in it. The photos in this add were taken the day the car was listed, and it is as clean and new looking underneath as it is above. Thanks very much for your interest!I'm dropping the price on this car and adding a reserve. The reserve is not much over the listed price. Happy bidding and good luck. Someone is going to get a great deal!
