Description

Chevy's best-selling Impala got an all-new look in 1965, a bigger, bolder, sleeker car that was still unquestionably top-of-the-line. This subtle and restrained 1965 Chevrolet Impala SS offers a unique look, V8 power, and perhaps most miraculously of all, just 10,521 original miles (and that's not a typo). You probably already know that some of our favorite cars are those that stand out for being different, and while this SS is hardly radical, we like it every... bit as much as its bright red and black siblings. It's code C Ermine White and that's this car's original color with all signs pointing to this being original 1965 paint. It's in fantastic condition for its age but the patina helps this car stand out without being too loud about it. The sleek semi-fastback Impala shape looks good no matter what color you paint it and in white, this SS has a subtle look that helps with the whole sleeper attitude. Bright chrome sets off the white paint rather well, and subtle 'Impala SS' emblems and 'Super Sport' script mean that this car has upgrades that make it a great cruiser. From the outside, there's just no question that this is one of those amazing survivors that has been loved all its life. In 1965, the Super Sport package still received standard bucket seats and a console, which give this conservative coupe a very sporting demeanor inside. Even better, it appears that the entire interior is original, more evidence of just how well-maintained this car really is. The ornate upholstery is in great shape showing deeper details than reproduction seat covers and a minimum of wear thanks to the low mileage. Sure, the driver's lower seat cushion has one tiny (nearly invisible) little blemish, but who's going to complain when everything else looks this good? The two-tone steering wheel is a pretty accent and frames the wide speedometer and symmetrical instrument panel. The SS's center console features a familiar shifter for the PowerGlide 2-speed automatic transmission and a clock, along with a familiar SS badge. The original AM/FM radio is still up top and yes, it works! The back seat looks new and if you want a massive trunk, few cars deliver more cubic feet than this big Imp and it's neatly finished with a correct mat and what is very likely the original spare tire. The original 327 cubic inch V8 under the hood is plenty potent to make this Impala worthy of the SS moniker and a lot of fun to drive. It is correctly coded with and HC suffix code, and it remains completely stock. It's so tidy, we have to believe it has been detailed, including the bright Chevy Orange paint, replacement decals, and correct hose clamps with GM-stamped hoses. Ram's horn exhaust manifolds feed a burbling Flowmaster dual exhaust system that's exactly right for this semi-luxury coupe. The underside is original and in very good condition, with lightly undercoated floors that have nothing to hide. The 2-speed PowerGlide automatic transmission feeds the original rear end, which carries highway-friendly rear gears so it's a fantastic cruiser. Original cars just drive better, and this car's suspension ignores bumps and there's not a squeak or rattle coming from underneath. Firestone whitewall radials with SS hubcaps complete the look. We love these big luxury/muscle coupes, and with low mileage, a great color combination, and V8 power, we're sure you'll love this incredible survivor, too. Call today!
