Description

Not flashy but this ultra-clean and very appealing, 1968 Chevrolet Impala has a lot to offer. Featuring small block power, ice cold A/C, and a lot of recent work, it makes for an affordable summer cruiser that's big enough for the whole family. In person you'll find that this is one straight, clean Impala. The hardtop has a great semi-formal look that contrasts neatly with Butternut Yellow paint and black vinyl top. There are acres of steel... on these cars, and it looks great, although the older repaint is starting to show signs of age with a few touch-ups here and there. It presents quite well at a glance and going down the road, the car still looks awesome. They didn't feel the need to add gaudy details like stripes or custom hoods, but instead focused on an overall finish that replicates what it might have looked like in, say, 1970. Nice, but not perfect and ideal for driving regularly. Bright chrome bumpers, polished stainless trim, and crisp badges look great and there are no signs of trouble underneath the vinyl top. This is still a great-looking car. The black interior appears to be almost entirely original, which speaks volumes about how well-maintained this car has been all its life. Bench seats offer spacious accommodations for full-sized adults and even the door panels appear decades younger than they are. Black carpets and a matching dash contain factory instruments that cover the basics, with a trio of auxiliary gauges stashed underneath. An aftermarket A/C unit under the middle of the dash blows ice cold and an upgraded AM/FM/CD radio provides suitable entertainment, and feeds a set of 6x9 speakers on the package shelf. The back seat looks almost new and the trunk is just as massive as you'd expect with a correct trunk mat and full-sized spare tire assembly. That is the original, numbers-matching 307 cubic inch V8 under the hood, and before you dismiss a small block in a big Imp, come give this one a drive. It's completely stock and drives beautifully, and there's something to be said for the way the factory did it. You can see where the money was spent, with bright Chevy Orange paint on the block, factory air cleaner and stamped steel valve covers, and a brand new Sanden A/C compressor. A burly TH400 3-speed automatic transmission pretty much guarantees you won't have to worry about breakage and the dual exhaust system has a mellow sound that's still comfortable for long highway drives. The suspension rides beautifully, reminding us that the Impala was a luxury car first and foremost, and you can tell just by looking at the underside that this is a good, solid, original car with no stories in its past. And yes, those Corvette Rally wheels make a statement, but you won't find many cars that wear them as well as this Impala does. Better yet, they're fitted with recent 225/75/15 whitewall radials for just the right period look. If you like full-sized luxury, the Impala is the biggest name in town. This handsome fastback hardtop is one of the most popular body styles and once you feel how well it drives, you'll be hooked. Call now!
