With a heavy heart I have decided to sell my extremely rare 1977 Nova 4-door sedan equipped with the COPO 9C1 option. I put together a Registry on the ' Net and have only found 16 sedans and 3 coupes remaining out of the approx14,000 that Chevy built from '75-78...about 1 in a thousand (5 are in museums). This car is considered by most cop car fans to be one of the 10 best cop cars ever built, and the best Chevy cop car ever built. It was capable of 130 mph top speed and could out-handle and out-run a new Corvette. Many car magazines wrote articles praising its virtues...Car& Driver, Hot Rod,Motor Trend, and Road & Track. It was equipped with a Z28 350 4-barrel engine,HD auto tranny, Z28 suspension including fast-ratio steering, Z28 springs and shocks, Z28 front and rear sway bars, 14x7 steel wheels with steel belted radials,HD radiator, HD cooling fan, HD electrical system, a posi rear-end with 3.08 gears, huge rear brakes from a full-size Chevy, special intake duct, 120 mph speedometer (only came on COPO Novas), Z28 steering wheel, and special HDseats (this is one of only 29C1 Novas with factory bucket seats, and the only 4-door sedan so equipped). This is also the only brown metallic 9C1, and oneof 3 with factory sport mirrors. It was purchased by a car enthusiast from Tulsa, OK to race in SCCA Autocross events, and the factory buildsheet (NOTE: some codes are tar-covered and hard to read, but most can be read to prove this is a real COPO 9C1), warranty booklet with the original owner's name, owner's manual and factory plastic envelope, and other factory pamphlets. It has its matching number drivetrain, but it does not run (although the engine turns freely). It's original keys were missing, so I drilled the truck lock to open the trunk. I also replaced the steering column which had a broken key cylinder and installed a tilt wheel from a '75 Nova only to discover the connectors to the dash electrical harness are different. I think replacing the column with a correct '77 Nova column would correct the problem. Many of the underdash wires have been cut to install a stereo and an unknown electrical device (alarm?). A factory assembly manual with a wiring diagram is included. The door panels are nearly perfect, the headliner is perfect, and most of the plastic trim pieces are decent. The dash pad is cracked, but useable as-is.The seats are badly sun-damaged and need to be redone (the vinyl is available on Ebay for a low cost). The tires are brand-new BFG Radial TAs, there is a new AC fuel pump, new plug wires, dist cap and rotor, andnew rad hoses. It has its original exhaust,jack,and spare tire and wheel.This car spent nearly its whole life in AZ and has ZERO rust-thru...it is clean as a whistle! It was in an accident in 2003 in the right front and hasn't run since. I replaced the damaged front sheetmetal, but the left fender still needs replaced, and it has minor firewall damage to the passenger side.All rare factory parts are present on it. Shipping is up to the buyer, but I will help load it up. It comes with a clear AZ title notarized with the 2nd owner's name, and rolls freely.
