Description

This particular chassiswas restored to commemorate the famous EX87/5951 Corvettewhich set the 150 mph speed record at Daytona Beach in January 1956. It ispresented as closely as possible to the paint scheme and configuration of thatmilestone car in Corvette history. This Corvette has been an extremely successful vintagerace car appearing at Monterey Historics/Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion 5times. It was invited for 2014 but we were unable to attend. It has appearedat the Wine Country Classic/ Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival 10 times...andhas raced numerous times at Coronado and Portland. It is a consistent top 5 finisher in a racegroup which also includes the same period purpose built specials. It isconsistently the fastest production based car in its group. The Corvette haswon the Best Overall Performance and Presentation of The Event award at theWine Country Classic 2003 and its share of the Motul Sportsmanship awardgiven to the team at the 2008 HSR-West Fontan Historic Festival and the DrivenTo Excellence award given to the team at Coronado 2011. Though it retains the correct 265 cubic inch displacement this car is running a ’56 block with a provision for an oil filter. The engine breathes through a period-correct 4-barrel Carter carb and retains the original stamped steel rocker arms required at more stringent vintage events. Normally straight-piped this car also has a Flowmaster setup for tracks that require lower volumes. A close ratio 3-speed heavy duty drums and two sets of wheels round out the package. Please feel free to call James Krueger with any questions at 877-893-8496.
