Description

Original heritage of this truck was a military police vehicle. Body panels stamped at the Indianapolis plant...final assembly in St. Louis.

Frame off and fenders off restoration undertaken two years ago with minor rust areas all replaced with new metal. Stored inside temperature controlled garage since then.

Ready now for paint and reassembly. Runs, drives, and stops as-is. (Not legal to drive on the highway now unless the lights are put back on first). With lights, windshield (glasses and gasketsincluded), and a current registration license plateit could be legally driven.

Brakes were gone through in 2017. Clean title. Paint it the color you desire. As with everything else, our opinion of color choice might have been a turnoff to you, so we have not yet repainted the body.

Original mileage is unknown.

In-line 6 stovebolt engine, manual on the floor stick shift transmission, and cleaned-up rear-end with 65 years of goop taken out. Spare engine and tranny from a donor vehicle go with the deal just in case. The spare engine was supposedly overhauled prior to our acquisition, but we cannot confirm that.

Four new Hankook tires on as yet unrestored aftermarket rims. Undercarriage has been cleaned and painted. New reproduction gas tank installed (original one goes with the sale if you want it). New windshield and side glasses included in the sale except for the rear glass. The original bed wood was deemed to be good enough to keep, so it was reinstalled. Radiator was cleaned, repainted, and reinstalled.

Original used parts from when the vehicle was disassembled are included as are a world of extra stuff from a donor vehicle. We purchased a reproduction front bumper that goes with the sale. Extra parts in the sale include engine, transmission, rust free driver and passenger side doors, bumper cores...too much to list. Original dash panel instruments included, but likely need restoration.

Rare items with the saleinclude the servicable rear valance, which is usually stolen off most trucks, the top headliner bows, and both the front seat and the jump seat frames and springs. Seats will need to be recovered with new material, but sufficient padding is included. We do not have the rear or middle seats, which almost always were thrown away to allow for more rear storage space, or stolen. Also absent from the sale is the rear taillight, which did not come when we bought it. Because the hinged taillights are impossible to find in decent condition, and repops are not yet available, we closed off the center hole with new welded metal. This leaves open the option of whether or not a new owner will want to use a centermounted light as original, or use aftermarket new tail lights, as may be required for legal requirements depending upon where you live.

Running boards have some minor rustouts in spots, and we did not get around to restoring them. We have two passenger side ones but only one driver's side. Two sets of painted grills. Can be restored and repainted any color you want, or you may wish to purchase a new reproduction chrome one, depending on your preferences.

Never got around to inventory of the rear window garnishes, but they are believed to be usable. This is another weak spot in these old Advance Design wagons.

Rear window glass is not included, but is available from California in repop.

Buyer will need to purchase and install a new electrical harness. Price of a new harness depends on what you want, can range from $200 for a simple one, to $500 for a cloth-jacketed reproduction of original. Original generator included but buyer may wish to convert to an upgraded generator, alternator, or 12 volt system. We did not make any decisions that would impact your choice of what options to add in the future.

The tube type AM radio that came with the truck was incorrect and inoperable, and obviously installed by a subsequent owner. It's available if we can find it. Have not seen it for a while.

As a project, we encourage any interested buyers to come and inspect. There is a whole lot of stuff not listed, and you will need to go through it all in person to see what you are getting.

Location between Chicago and Indianapolis...easy to reach from both cities.

Our asking price is way less than what we have in this vehicle. Medical disability requires sale as we are no longer able to do the work to complete.
