This is a very nice 1965 Chevrolet Malibu SS. It is a true SS, 138 VIN car, done in a Z-16 tribute style. A tribute car refers to a car that has been rebuilt to replicate and meet the factory specs of a target classic car; In this case, a rare Z-16 big block Chevelle. Chevrolet produced only 201 Malibu SS396 'Z-16' big-block-equipped cars starting in late 1965 to compete in the muscle car market. Of the 201 built, only 75 are known to still exist today. Beneath the hood of this bright Red Malibu SS is a healthy 454ci, 7.4L, Chevy Big Block mated to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear. It has a stock radiator, a HEI distributor, aluminum dual plane intake, and a Holley 650 CFM Double Pumper carb. The valve covers and air cleaner are dressed in chrome. Headers, dual pipes with Cherry Bomb mufflers and chrome tips, handle the exhaust out the side. It comes equipped with Power Steering and power brakes, with discs on the front. The wheels are steel with hub caps, wrapped in Firestone 7.75-14 Goldline tires. This car has a very nice exterior. The chrome bumpers and mirrors are bright and clean, as well as the grill, trim moldings, and handles. The emblems have been done to match the Z-16 trim, with the 396, turbo jet, and Malibu SS badging. The classic black interior is in great shape. Low rise bucket seats in the front, separated by a chromed auto center console, with a bench in the rear. The dash Is all factory, with stock gauges and radio, and SS trim on the glove box. A Z-16 Tachometer sits nicely on the dash, paying homage to the original. The door and rear interior quarter panels are all new, as well as the carpet and headliner, all of which are in black. The door handles and cranks are new also, which is an added plus for this 50 year old gem.
