Offering alternative air-cooled vehicles during the early 1960s, Chevrolet expanded the Corvair lineup to include a station wagon, a cargo or passenger van and two types of pickup trucks.

Corvair 95 Loadside pickups are seldom seen these days but here at MotoeXotica Classic Cars, we found an even rarer model. Just behind the cab, emerging from the cargo floor like a metallic hydra, this Corvair has a monster big block 454 Chevrolet V-8 on this Restomod pickup! This is unlike any ramp side pickup you have ever seen!

Built at the former Chevrolet truck plant in St. Louis, Missouri (VIN code S), this truck wears a vibrant yellow paint job with contrasting purple flames. The paint and trim are in overall great condition with some minor imperfections, most notable on the top of the drop ramp that has peeled and been touched up. The truck's bodywork is straight and solid, the cargo bed with its corrugated metal sheeting, is in very good order and the truck's chrome bumpers have been painted body color.

Wearing GT Radial Performance tires, size 215/70R15 in front and 275/60R15 in back, each tire is mounted to Colorado custom three-spoke alloy wheels. The wheels are in good, original condition while the tires are in very good order.

Details on the Rat Motor just aft of the cab - it has dual four-barrel carburetors; Edelbrock headers; a Weiand intake manifold; MSD Ignition; an electric fuel pump, electric radiator fan; and dual exhausts. Backing this motor is a Turbo Hydramatic 400 three-speed automatic transmission and a Ford nine-inch differential. The typical trio of ancillary gauges often found mounted beneath dashboards are on the passenger side of the engine, perched above the cylinder head.

Inside, the truck features a yellow and purple bench seat that has been rolled and tucked and is in excellent condition. The contrasting black carpet is in very good order and the yellow headliner looks great. The truck's original, two-spoke steering wheel has been painted yellow, too, and is in good order. The yellow, metal instrument panel and inner door liners are body color as well and are in fantastic shape. It would be hard to miss the Autometer tachometer on the dashtop and canted to face the driver. Completing the interior is a Hurst shifter.

Competition to this Corvair pickup in 1964 included Volkswagen's Type 2 two-door pickup truck.

The Rampside had a side ramp to be used for loading and unloading cargo. These were used by the Bell Telephone Company as loading and unloading of cable drums was eased by the side ramp. If you remember your parents or grandparents having one or one of their neighbors owning one and it piqued your curiosity, you should stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars to check out this unique Corvair Pickup Restomod.
