Description

Tribute cars always seem to mimic the big-dollar machines, but this bright red 1967 Camaro is a tribute to the stylish RS with a very reasonable price tag. With a great-running 454 inch big block, 4-speed, sinister black wheels, and the perfect muscle car stance, it's an unusual tribute that runs like a Camaro should. The paint is bright red, the archetypal performance color that always looks fantastic, especially on an early Camaro with a black nose... stripe. For fans of the simplicity of the early Camaros, few colors could be better, and it's pretty close to the factory's Bolero Red. It seems to emphasize the sheetmetal's curves; just look at the kick-up behind the doors and the sharp crease that runs the length of the body, neatly bisecting the doors and rear quarter. As an RS tribute, it has the traditional hidden headlights and simple single-element taillight lenses that are part of the package, as well as the requisite RS emblems on the nose. The black stripe around the nose looks great and has been painted on, so it has a slick look that works quite well and we love the way it highlights the Camaro script and the 'rs' emblem on the side. Chrome is quite good throughout, including the front and rear bumpers, and someone has thoughtfully added a set of "396" badges on the fenders, perhaps as a warning although they do understate the situation a bit. Don't worry, we'll get to that part. Complementing the bright red paint, a set of black factory buckets greet you when you climb aboard. Black carpets and matching door panels complete the OEM look, and while it was done a few years ago, it's holding up pretty well. This one also carries a few neat upgrades, including cold A/C, an aftermarket steering wheel, and a Hurst T-handle shifter. Auxiliary gauges under the dash keep an eye on the stout big block up front and match the all-new Dakota Digital instruments in the original gauge openings. Entertainment comes courtesy of a newer AM/FM/CD stereo head unit that's been neatly installed in the center stack and seems to blend in with its surroundings. The back seat looks almost new, which isn't usually a surprise in Camaros, and if you open the deck lid you'll find a nice clean trunk with no nasty surprises. Power comes from a burly 454 cubic inch V8. Finished in Chevy Orange with a set of finned valve covers that are always right on a big block Chevy, it definitely has a performance look. A Weiand intake manifold with a Holley 4-barrel carb help build horsepower, and in the lightweight Camaro, the big hit of torque is a real thrill every single time. There's also a big aluminum radiator up front, Mallory electronic ignition system, and a fresh chrome air cleaner. It's tidy but you could clean it up to really make this car pop. The aforementioned 4-speed manual transmission feeds a 10-bolt rear end and a set of long-tube headers feed a dual exhaust system that sounds downright nasty. Clean floors, drilled front disc brakes, traction bars, and the perfect stance all add up to a car that's going to get a lot of attention. 17-inch Billet Specialties wheels were powdercoated black for effect and wear 225/45/17 front and 245/45/17 rear performance radials. Nicely built, clean, and a lot of fun to drive, this is an awesome Camaro with great colors and just a bit of attitude. Call today!
