Description

This 1980 Corvette offers the kind of bang for the buck that is getting harder to find these days. For that very reasonable price up there you get a matching-numbers car in awesome colors that's ready to enjoy. Investment? Nah, just an awesome "Vette that's ready to enjoy and which will turn a lot of heads on the street. Code 28 Dark Blue is this 'Vette's original color and it works exceedingly well on the C3's dramatic shape.... With all the downright wacky colors GM was using during this period, this car looks sophisticated and contemporary, even 35 years later. It's nicely finished with a great gloss and everything matches properly, which is something even the factory had trouble mastering. No stripes or other noteworthy modifications, just that classic shape finished to a better-than-factory level. Depending on the light, the finish goes from dark blue to a medium steel blue that really looks good, and this is the kind of car that'll be welcome just about anywhere. It's been nicely maintained since it was painted, so the chin isn't all beat up, the rocker panels are protected by their own trim, and correct emblems were installed as needed to make it look like the factory intended. Oyster leather was a fantastic choice with the dark blue paint and we're fairly certain that this car has an original interior in it. It's not quite white, not quite gray, not quite beige, but somewhere in-between, and the contrast with the exterior bodywork is dramatic. It took some guts to order it up this way instead of the more common tan or dark blue combinations, but nobody's going to argue that it doesn't look fantastic. There are light signs of age and use on the seats, but overall it appears that this car has always been treated as something special. The slightly darker carpets anchor the interior and keep it from being too light and hard to maintain, and even the steering wheel looks pretty darned good. Factory equipment includes a tilt column, A/C and power windows, and along with a rather lengthy list of standard features, there's no such thing as a stripped Corvette. T-tops give you that open-air motoring experience with better weather protection than a convertible and a modern AM/FM/cassette stereo offers some modern entertainment for cruising. The original, numbers-matching 350 cubic inch V8 remains under the forward-tilting hood and unlike so many of its siblings, it remains almost entirely stock. All the factory equipment including the twin-snorkel air cleaner and even the AIR pump is intact, which means this car hasn't been raced or abused. It's pretty original and in good working order, with R134a refrigerant in the A/C system, a custom pipe in place of the original catalytic converter (which is included and can be reinstalled relatively easily). The TH350 3-speed automatic transmission was rebuilt about 3000 miles ago and now packs a shift kit to firm up the gear changes that really makes a noticeable difference in both acceleration and durability. With rather tall 3.08 gears out back, this 'Vette is a fantastic highway cruiser ready for a long trip. It's also a smooth rider with 255/60/15 Goodyear radials wrapped around original slotted aluminum wheels. Affordable fun with enough performance to earn respect on the street, this Corvette represents one heck of a big bang for the buck. Call today!
