Description

Wow, this gorgeous machine really brings back some awesome memories!‘Red Hills Rods & Classics’ is thrilled to offer you this absolutely stunning 1955 Chevrolet 210 ‘Blown Gasser’, the recipient of a three-year no-expense spared build that was just completed in late 2018! This car is an absolute mind-blower folks! The term ‘Gasser’ refers to a style of drag race car that was quite prolific in the late 1950s thru the 1960s that ran on gasoline, as opposed to racing fuel.... These cars typically competed in ‘heads up’ drag races that were classified by engine size and overall weight. They used a straight axle front suspension that produced the intimidating stance that Gassers are known for, and they are easily recognized by common features such as the high front-end stance that was developed as a means of weight transfer to the rear wheels for traction. In addition to the straight axle, most Gassers also sported Halibrand wheels, no front bumper, and had a front mounted Moon tank. It is no wonder that Gassers have remained a fan favorite in drag racing, and why the Gasser revival has lasted longer than the ’50s & ’60s Gasser wars era that inspired it. I am assuming that if you have found yourself drooling over this car that you already know about the history of the ‘Gasser’, so let’s get down to business. The client gave the builder, Joel Douglas, an open ticket to create what he believed to be the ‘perfect’ 1955 Chevy Gasser. He wanted the car to look authentic to the 60’s-era Gassers in every way, but even more importantly he wanted the car to drive beautifully. I have had several Gassers over the years and what they all had in common was that they were a pain in the butt to handle. That is not the case at all w/ this beautiful car, as it is the finest driving Gasser that you will ever experience, but more on that later. The build started w/ a 100% rust-free 1955 Chevrolet 210 that was in excellent condition for an original unrestored car. Every nut & bolt was disassembled and countless man-hours were spent making sure that all of the sheet metal was laser straight all of the way around the car. All of the new chrome & stainless trim is in show-quality condition, and new tinted glass was installed all around. She was then finished in Cardinal Red base coat/clear coat paint, which was buffed & polished to a brilliant shine throughout. The paint is absolutely gorgeous on this car and is pure ‘eye-candy’ in every way. In keeping w/ tradition, there is no front bumper and an authentic Moon tank was installed up front. The body was mounted on its original frame, which was powder coated in semi-gloss black and extensively fortified for drive-ability. All brand-new components were used on this build including the front straight axle kit, leaf springs, Mosier rear differential, Moser axles, Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes, traction bars, gas tank, etc. (please look closely at the undercarriage photos to see how nicely everything was done). She has the perfect ‘Gasser’ stance sitting on 15” x 4.5” Rocket Racing Launcher aluminum wheels up front wrapped w/ BF Goodrich Silvertown tires (5.90 x 15), and 15” x 8” black steel wheels in the rear wrapped w/ Firestone Dragster whitewall tires (10.00 x 15). This ’55 Chevy Gasser looks absolutely perfect from every angle, period. Everyone who sees the car in person leaves w/ their jaw hanging open. It is truly a stunning looking car! When you open the driver’s door, you will find a perfect custom interior, built w/ comfort & functionality in mind. Interior features include: new black vinyl adjustable bench seat w/ red seat belts, new black vinyl rear seat, painted dash w/ chrome dash insert & Classic Instruments gauges (including clock), dash-mounted cut-out exhaust switch, chrome tilt-steering column, wrapped billet steering wheel w/ Bowtie logo, B&M ratchet shifter w/ red Devil-Head shift knob, FiTech Go EFI controller (custom-mounted next to shift-box), billet door handles & window cranks, Mooneyes foot gas pedal, custom rear-mounted stainless steel roll bar bolted to the frame, Pioneer AVH-P5200DVD receiver w/ 7” touchscreen & internal amplifier (AM/FM/Sirius Satellite/Bluetooth & supports video playback from DVD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DivX, and Video CD discs), (4) Pioneer speakers, (2) 12” JL Audio Subwoofers w/ Soundstream Tarantula 3000-watt amplifier, and Painless wiring throughout. An Autometer tachometer w/ Shift-Lite & Autometer boost gauge are mounted on the hood so you won’t miss those quick shifts. All of the gauges, lights, blinkers, etc. are in perfect working condition, and the sound system is incredible! You can adjust your fuel-injection system w/ a touch of the screen, and you can open up the custom cut-out exhaust system if you want to blow everyone’s mind! All in all, it is the ‘perfect’ interior for a ’55 Chevy Gasser. Now, let’s get to the good stuff, shall we?Nestled inside the beautifully detailed engine bay resides a new GM ZZ427 crate motor featuring Icon forged pistons (8.1 to 1 compression), Total Seal gapless rings, Eagle 6.635” rods, ARP main studs, ARP head studs, Cometic gaskets, BDS 871 Blower w/ 1 to 1 pulley ratio (11 Lbs. @ 6300 rpm), FiTech 1200 PA Dual-Quad fuel-injection system (using timing control), MSD Pro-Billet distributor, MSD Streetfire CD ignition box, MSD Blaster coil, MSD 8.5mm spark plug wires, GM high-torque gear reduction starter, Aeromotive A1000 fuel system pump w/ AFT filters, rear discharge sump (on factory tank), Ron Davis aluminum radiator, etc. This wicked powerplant is pushing around 800HP, yet is extremely reliable for street driving. The motor is linked to a new TCI TH400 transmission w/ a 2600 stall converter, which feeds the power to an asphalt shredding Moser 9” rear-end (including Ford limited slip) w/ 3.70 gear ratio. This ‘Blown Gasser’ runs, drives & performs beautifully in every way! It is by far the finest driving Gasser that I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing, and tracks down the road as straight as an arrow. There are no rattles, vibrations or unwanted noises whatsoever, and it is very, VERY fast! It also sounds absolutely incredible, especially when you open up the cut-out exhaust system! The Ron Davis radiator will keep her running nice & cool even in 100+ degree summer weather, and the Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes can stop her on a dime!Again, this was a no-expense spared high-end build that is second to none, period. This incredible machine can win ‘First Place’ awards @ any national-level car event, but can also be driven & enjoyed to the fullest w/out worrying about reliability on the road. Imagine pulling into your local Starbucks in this bad boy! If you have been searching for a Tri-Five Chevy that will separate you from all of the others in the crowd, you have found your car!
