Description

1966 Chevrolet Caprice 396 2dr SEE FULL LISTING WITH MORE PICS AND UNDERBODY ON 2 Owners, Same Since 1968! Only 32,600 Miles From New Mostly Original Paint, Original Blue Cloth Interior 396ci Big Block V8, Powerglide Automatic Transmission, 3.07 PosiTraction VIN: 166476N107961 Paint: Ermine White (C-C) Trim: Blue Cloth (843) We purchased this fantastic '66 2dr Caprice 396 survivor from a gentleman in Pennsylvania whose father had owned it since 1968. He had bought it from Fike Chevrolet of Masontown, PA after the first owner had traded... it in, and he kept the car at home in PA until we purchased it earlier this year. This car was the owner's show car through the years, and he took excellent care of it. It's extremely impressive to see such a well-preserved and unmolested example, and the extensive original documentation (window sticker, manuals, protecto plate, period marketing materials, etc) is great to see. Since purchasing the car we have changed the oil, rebuilt the original carburetor, replaced the distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs, points and condenser, set the timing, and begun to add mileage. The car runs and drives beautifully. As it sits now, this is a very well-sorted example in need of nothing other than a new owner who will use and enjoy it. Exterior: Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. There is very, very little as far as imperfections. There are a few small chips that have been touched-up, but not much else to note. Polished surfaces are all mirror-like and free of oxidation, and the body is nice and straight. Not a single rust bubble to be found on this car. Extremely dry and honest car. Doors/trunk/hood open and close nice and smooth. Ermine white is the original color, and most of the car actually still retains its original paint, as confirmed with a paint gauge. Below the belt line all the way around is original, as is the pinstripe, but the hood/roof/trunk lid have all seen one respray. Paint presents very well, and the car is very much show-worthy. Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free. Lights and signals are all functional. Wheels are in excellent shape, with no damage or oxidation on the hubcaps. Tires are in good shape. Plenty of tread and no visible dryness, but we are not positive as to their age. Interior: Please take a look through the photos and video, as the interior is documented in detail. Interior is extremely impressive throughout. Very, very rarely do we see such a nicely preserved cloth interior. Seats are free of any fraying, discoloring, scuffs, etc, with the exception of one small crack on the back upper inside corner of the driver's seat (see photo). Truly immaculate and unrestored. No wear to note in the rear. Headliner is tight and clean. Sills are nice and clean. Original carpet still has a nice deep blue color to it and has nothing more than the slightest signs of age. Car will also come with a set of color-matched Chevy floormats, which are in great shape. Wood on the dash is free of hairline cracks or signs of wear. Gauges are functional except the clock. Odometer reading of 32,600 is accurate based on known history from new and outstanding original condition of general wear items. Aftermarket tachometer added below the dash is functional. Spotlight is functional and controlled by the knob next to the tach. AM radio is functional, power antennae is not. Fan/heat are functional. This car does not have air conditioning. Mechanical / Underbody: Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. This car looks great underneath. No through rust, previous metal work, damage, or active leaks. This car was undercoated and it served its purpose. - The car runs and drives beautifully. It starts right up first turn, idles cool and steady, pulls HARD through the gears, shifts smoothly and doesn't clunk going into gear, has excellent powered steering, and the ride quality is very, very good. No shakes, rattles, or other noises or tendencies of concern. The car tracks straight down the road, and brakes straight and effectively. A confidence-inspiring driver for sure.
