Up for sale is a genuine 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 with its original, numbers matching 396/350 HP L34 power plant. This well appointed SS comes with factory A/C, upgraded to use R134a refrigerant, strato bucket seats, console shifter, full gauge package (including blinker tach), front disc brakes and power steering. The car has been upgraded to a 700r4 transmission for better road manners, as this car is and has been regularly driven. The transmission has just undergone a complete rebuild and refurb, so it looks and drives like a muscle car should.
The engine had a full rebuild in 2016 and is topped by a new Holley 4160 carb with electric choke. The car comes with a date-correct Holley 3836 carb that would need a rebuild/restoration to be usable. There is a Pertronix electronic ignition kit under the stock distributor, and the car fires up beautifully from both cold and warm starts. The front brakes have been replaced in February 2019 with a new set of stock-appearance CPP brakes--new spindles, shoes, calipers, master cylinder and booster. Braking is solid and true on all four wheels.
The inner and outer tie rods were just replaced in the Fall of 2018, as was the upper control arm on the driver's side. The car was fully aligned after that work and drives well, riding on a set of QA1 shock absorbers.
The engine compartment hosts its original, matching-numbers 350 HP 396 L34 engine. The engine and surrounding accessories are highly detailed and accurate in their restoration. Recent work includes: powder-coating of the inner left fender and all A/C mounting brackets, new fan shroud and new paint for the A/C fan box, power steering reservoir and other parts. All radiator and heater hoses are correct and less than a year old; they also feature the correct clamps.
The car rides on period-correct Cragar S/S rims and BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires with plenty of tread depth all around.
The interior is restored to stock appearance with the only exception being an upgraded Custom Autosound stereo that fits properly in the dash.
This car can go in a number of different directions for its new owner: it can continue to be a great weekend driver with lots of comfort options (A/C, PS, PB, overdrive transmission), it could be reverted to full-stock configuration and configured as a show car or anywhere in between. The car will come with a number of spare parts, including the correct carburetor, the correct hard-piped fuel line, a spare set of brake lines, a spare proportioning valve and a number of other smaller detail parts, fastners and manuals. I have a considerable amount of documentation for all work done and parts purchased, along with an original delivery inspection report with Protect-o-plate imprint (I do not have the Protect-o-plate itself).
Numbers-matching SS396 cars (especially L34s) are getting harder to come by; this is an excellent opportunity for you to add one of these classic muscle cars to your collection!
