1985 Chevrolet Caprice Coupe
Description
Over $15,000 invested in frame off restoration, stored inside most of the time. The car was completely disassembled, the frame, axles, inner fenders, and radiator support were media blasted, cleaned and powder coated, the frame cleaned and painted. All u-joints, upper and lower ball joints, idler arms, tie rods, ring and pinion, rear axle bearings as well as the differential carrier bearings were replaced. It has the original blue interior except for the carpet which was replaced. The tuned port injection system was installed from an ‘87 Camaro, it came with the wiring harness and computer which was mated to the Caprice. The fuel injectors were sent out for cleaning and flow characterization. More pictures available on request.

The Highs
- Solid super straight rust-free Montana car
- Beautiful 2006 GM Laser-Blue paint
- Exhaust sound, not too loud, but the combination of the large pipes, free flow muffler and tuned port give it an effective rumble
- Power;the 350 w/tuned port injection and 3.73 axle ratio made a huge difference in acceleration and cruising (car originally came with a 305 carbureted engine)
- Cruising at highway + speeds smooth, comfortable
- Great sound system
The Lows
- No air conditioning; the compressor was not re-installed (I have the compressor, hoses, and evaporator)
- Some chrome plating on the plastic wiper and window controls flaking off, I replaced what I could find
- Transmission leaks a little oil, not sure where it's coming from
